Had this lens on my 40D in past, it focuses slow, but macro is mostly manualy focussing. I tested it for portraits also, very sharp. Working distance is better than 100mm if you want to take pictures of butterfly's or other shy insects.

Very sharp; f2.8; exellent distance for shy insects; also for portraits; built like a tank

Slow AF

A 150mm macro lens may seem an unusual focal length, but actually it addresses several macro issues. For instance, a 50mm macro is perfect for static subjects where working distance between camera and subject isn't a problem.

"Sigma AF 150mm APO f/2.8 HSM"

This listing on ciao doesn't have a model number for focal length so I am going to review the Sigma APO 150mm f/2.8 Macro lens Before I purchase products I do extensive research on them; I read magazines and scour the internet looking for absolutely every bit of information I can before I buy.

Crips, sharp, contrast full images; silent focusing; f/2.8 apature

no image stabiliser

Sigma AF 150mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM APO Macro OS (Canon EOS) - APS-C Review / Test Report

The Sigma AF 150mm f/2.8 EX HSM DG APO macro OS is certainly among the very best macro lenses that we've tested here at photozone. It delivered great results in our full format test already and it is not worse in the APS-C format despite the comparatively higher pixel density of our base DSLR.

Sigma 150mm macro lens

Truly an incredible lens at a good price point. It replaced both my 105 and 200mm micro lenses with the added benefit of image stabilization. Used mainly manual focus but when activated, the auto focus worked well. Took over 500 pictures with this lens alone on our wildflower mountain expedition.

Gives You The Distance

I wanted to get into macro and not only flowers or stationary objects, but small "jumpy" insects. While many reviews stated this lens will give you some extra working room, I did not realize how much until I tried it.

Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Great bokeh; Rugged; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction; Tripod collar

Tack sharp

This is a wonderful macro lens with a nice working distance, and also is a terrific mid range telephoto lens. Very sharp and creates some amazing bokeh. You won't be sorry if you buy this lens.

This is a good lens for photographing insects and other invertebrates

This is a good lens for photographing insects and other invertebrates, Excellent working distance for macro work. Autofocus works very well as dose the OS ,I use a mono pod for most of my photos, I found the lens a little heavy but it has a good balance on my Nikon camera.
