I couldn't afford the 24-70 MM L from Canon so after reading some solid reviews I decided to "settle" on the Sigma. That's a bit unfair as the Sigma is an excellent lens. Even though the Canon is sharper on a full frame (I use this lens on my 5d), the reality is most brides and grooms aren't looking...

lens is one that has been praised by every photographer who picks it up. The only issues that some people find with the lens is that it is heavy, large, and expensive at around $1,700.

For this high price I expect highest quality from f 2,8 and not middle quality up to f 8 My cheap soligor 3,5-4,5/28-70 is when stopped down to f4,5 much more sharper in the corners on 28mm. Too many plastic elements therein
Pros:
- stopped down a few quite good optical qualities in the center colors and cantrast really ok
Cons:
- the corners are not real sharp in infinity position I testet f 4,5 on 28mm:stong chromatic aberrations in the corners and double contures
- not to use for big posters of architecture without intensive sharpening by photoshop because of these mistakes

Also included is the full-time manual over-ride allowing instant control in low-light situations. Whether you're shooting in fast paced situations or low light situations this lens can handle it.
