Not the best but far above the average
Not the best but far above the average. When i bought it i was getting soft images wide open (f2.8)... but after doing some research i soon learned how to tweak it. I dont know if it was with all the lenses or maybe just mine...

perfect lens for portraits and landscapes
Exactly what I wanted for furthering my photography career. perfect lens for portraits and landscapes. Fits well on my Nikon D7100. Amazing quality in pictures. I have worked with a Nikon D810 with a Nikon 24-70mm F2.8 and there is no major difference!

Sigma's pro-spec 24-70mm f2.8 full-frame zoom lens is available in Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony and Sigma mounts, and was tested here in conjunction with a Nikon D700 (full-frame) body. The first thing to note about Sigma's 24-70mm f2.8 lens is its considerably lower cost than other premium zooms.

Let's face the facts. This is not a Canon 24-70mm f2.8 L and if you expect it to be, than you will be disappointed. If you want a very good 24-70mm f2.8, that preforms very well, this is it! It is not weather proof. It misses focus occasionally. f2.8 is not as sharp as f4 on.

This Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 is made from top grade glass consisting of ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion), two LD (Low Dispersion), and three aspherical lenses. All this glass weighs in at a solid 790g, but the resulting performance is worth it.
