Lens Test: Sigma 8mm f/3.5 EX DG AF
An updated version of Sigma's 8mm f/4 spherical fisheye, this is the field's widest circular fisheye with autofocus. It's also among the last Sigma film-era lenses to be upgraded with coatings that suppress reflections from digital sensors ("DG").

Sigma 8mm f/3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye review by lensreporter
Real Fun-lens - funky-punky.... optically very strong, sharp, complete circle (not that bullshitcercle from Peleng 8) nearly without flare (forget the cheepo-Pelengo....!). Very good construction, but take care of the frontlens.
Pros:
- Fantastic perspective - 360 = FUN - sharp
- nice buildings
- very few CA´s
- NO FLARE
Cons:
- take care on the frontlens

Sigma's super multi-layer coating and Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass provide excellent image quality for digital and film SLR cameras. The special fisheye design allows maximum creative expression.

Looking for a fisheye -- this is it!
Fisheye is always tough to handle: the dynamic range of 180 degrees FOV is simply too wide; either the sun or your feet tend to get into the frame, one must take care finding a good spot -- and this lens is no exception. But for those who are familiar with the specifics of fisheye photography, will...
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
- Lightweight
- Quick Focus
- Rugged
- Sharp Focus
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Chromatic aberration

Excellent lens
This lens is great, a good addition to my photography toys box, at least for the purpose I bought for, panoramas for Real Estate properties. It has a big flaw though, the auto focus is really sloooooow

The Sigma 8mm f/3.5 is a very well constructed lens. accidentally, it drop 2 times out of my camera bag from 50cm on a wooden floor and continues to work great.Being a circular fisheye, it shows vignetting on a cropped sensor camera and a full circular image on full frame sensors.
Pros:
- Very wide angle

This lens is the one to pull out when things are slow and wouldn't normally attract interest. With this lens, almost every photo taken is in a perspective never seen by anybody, and thus looks very unique.
Pros:
- Sharp all around! It is crisp and very sharp up until its far far edges
- F/5.6 and higher get you sharper shots up until F/16
- After F/16, you're just compensating for an intense light source, Versatility: The many uses it has can seem almost endless.
Cons:
- Sharpness below F/5.6: Tends to be a bit soft on distant objects, but thats not what the lens is for
- The F/3.5 aperture is perfect for objects with no depth, such as astro-photography, but thats not a common photo
- Eyes tend to not focus too well at F/3.5, Exposed lens: The lens is quite out there.
