This lens is a joy to use. I have taken some great photos with it. I have it's big brother, the 12-24 V2 and it is easily as good as that, if not better, but on a Canon crop it is equivalent to 13-26, not 12-24.I still don't understand why people on this forum give poor ratings to what is obviously...
Pros:
- Compact and light
- fast to focus
- razor sharp
- image quality
- build quality
Cons:
- None

Great image quality!
The lens is very sturdy and the image is great in day light. The images are very sharp but its not that great for night photography. If you are looking to buy this lens, I suggest you check out the real item or silmilar items because 8-16mm is really wide.
Pros:
- SUPER and I mean SUPER wide
Cons:
- Wight
- Not great for night photography

For the sole purpose of wide angle photography, the Sigma 8-16mm lens is the benchmark. The images are surprisingly sharp. An engineering marvel!

The right choice for super-wide
Never bought a Sigma before, and I had read that some of their wide-angle lenses felt a bit cheap. Pleased to say the 8-16mm looks and feels like the reasonably premium lens that it is. Nice and weighty, smooth focus and zoom rings, and a very snug fit to my A700 a-mount.All lenses are compromises.
Pros:
- Sharp Focus
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Slow Focus

Owning a Olympus E5 I have always wanted the Zuiko 7-14mm but the price was just to high. I have recently moved to Sony and picked up this lens for less than half the cost of the 7-14mm. With the crop factor it is actually 2mm wider than the Zuiko. The Sigma is a well made lens.
Pros:
- Build quality
- Sharp
- nice smooth focus ring
- price
Cons:
- Can't use an ND grad
- Can flare easily
