Sigma f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports review

The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports lens is bigger and heavier than all of its main rivals, but we can forgive that because of the compelling mix of fantastic sharpness and image quality, great build quality, and outstanding feature set and performance.

One of my favourites

Absolutely love this one. I am not a professional photographer but I am not a total novice either (my first SLR was a nikon F8001 - so well over 25 years ago). Even though there's a slight drop in sharpness at 200mm, the Sigma delivers excellent overall image quality, making it exceptional value at the price.
Pros:
  • Value for money
  • Overall performance
  • Dual-mode image stabilizer
Cons:
  • Slight loss of sharpness at full zoom
  • f/2.8 maximum aperture makes it big and heavy
