Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens review

Sigma has beaten the competition in being the first third-party lens maker to offer a native, mirrorless-optimized full-frame super-telephoto zoom for Sony's E-mount, and at just $950 it is a very attractive alternative to its name-brand competitor.

Impressive image quality, High-quality build, Fast, reliable autofocus, Portable size (for the zoom range), Incredible overall value

Tripod collar/foot is an additional expense, Zoom & focus rings switched position, Vignetting correction not perfect, requires additional help & causes faint color shift

Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Review

The Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary ($949) is a built-for-mirrorless telezoom with full-frame coverage, available for E-mount and L-mount camera systems. It offers a bit more reach than 70-300mm, a plus for capturing distant subjects, and a lighter, slimmer build than longer glass like the Sony FE 200-600mm. It's a solid option for naturalists, photographers covering outdoor sports, and others who want more reach than a typical telephoto offers, and can live without the extra magnification power you get from a 600mm zoom.Available for L-Mount and Sony Cameras You can buy the 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary for E-mount cameras, made by Sony, or for L-mount models from Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma itself. Aside from the lens mount, the two editions are physically identical. Sigma does offer 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters for the lens in L-mount, but not for Sony cameras. It's a sizable zoom—not surprising given its coverage range—measuring 7.8 by 3.4 inches (HD) at...

The Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary is an affordable, quality telezoom lens with plenty of reach for sports and wildlife.

High-quality build; Stabilized optics; Quick, quiet autofocus; Useful on-lens controls; Built-for-mirrorless design

Teleconverters not available for E-mount version; Not fully protected from dust and splashes; Struggles with high-resolution sensors

Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens review

While it's a shame that picture and sound quality haven't been upgraded, the iPhone 13 was great in these regards and the iPhone 14 is, too Excellent display Admirable headphone performance Solid build quality No upgrades to picture or sound Familiar design Notch is still present

Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens review

The iPhone 14 isn't much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it's still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades

Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens review

More like an iPhone 13S. The generational upgrades for the iPhone 14 are limited to a few subtle changes. At the same time, however, the base price climbs to 800 USD, while the only true innovation happens inside the iPhone 14 Pro series.

excellent OLED display, dust- and waterproof, fast Wi-Fi, wide range of supported frequencies, great camera, very fast performance, good battery life

display limited to 60 Hz, charging rate limited to 20 watts, no macro lens, wide notch

Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens review

Hannah Stryker / Review Geek The iPhone 14 is the latest iteration of Apple’s flagship device. Since its launch, the iPhone has set the standard of what a smartphone is, what it does, and how it looks. Fifteen years later, it’s still doing that.

Top-notch cameras, Amazing display, Snappy performance, Great battery life

It's just "this year's iPhone"
