Civilization V: Brave New World

The second expansion of Civilization V not only adds new content, but reinvents some of the fundamental mechanics.

Playstyles finally balanced; Increased interactivity; Brilliantly designed scenarios; Much improved interaction between nations

Unreasonably hardware demanding; Somewhat inept AI

Civilization V for Linux Review

Some of the Linux users might not know anything about this game, but the news that the latest Civilization title in the series, the fifth one, arrived on Steam for Linux really shook up the open source community.

+ Procedural maps; + Advanced AI; + Extensive research tree; + Multiple ways of winning

- The AI might be cheating on higher difficulties; - The AI support during battles is lacking

High Culture | Civilization V: Brave New World Review

Perhaps no video game better exemplifies the relativity of time than the Civilization series. When there are just three turns left until you finish the Hagia Sophia or enter a new era, they pass almost instantly, dismissed with the click of a button.

+Superb culture system

-Unrealised diplomacy

Civilization V: Gods and Kings

Civilization has always had a special place in my heart. As a turn-based 4X strategy game, it is the antithesis of damn-near everything in the shooter-saturated landscape that is the modern game market.

Civilization V: Brave New World review

Civilization V has always had a problem: most of the fun is front-loaded. Finding your place in the world is the height of the game's enjoyment, and the feeling you get when you build your first ocean-faring vessel--breaking into the dark blue and seeing what else is out there in the world--is...

New mechanics are well integrated with old ones; Additions help create better mid-game content; Revamped Trade Routes change game for the better

Some new elements can be difficult to understand at first; Late game still isn't as interesting as exploration; Losing a few hundred more hours

Civilization 5: Gods and Kings Review

Civilization V has already had a Game of the Year Edition that contained new map packs and civilizations, but now the game is getting its first full-fledged expansion pack in Gods & Kings. But is it worth it? Read on to find out!

Adds new civilizations; new units; and new mechanics; Religion is implemented much better than in Civ IV; Very fun built-in scenarios; particularly" Empires of the Smoky Skies

Doesn't fix any of the underlying Civ V problems like lag or poor AI

An amazingly addicting and long-lasting strategy game!

An amazing strategy game from start to finish. It's been around for a few years now and it has not lost it's spark. There are so many different routes you can take for your civilization and it requires a well thought out plan to conquer the rest.

Civilization V is a must-have for fans of strategy games.

"In my opinion this game is very good. I first bought this game when a few friends of mine recommended it to me due to its longevity and extremely fun multiplayer experience. At first I was reluctant to buy this game, seeing as how the base game cost 249 rubles (approximately 7 dollars) and the...

incredibly long longevity; guaranteed hours of fun; impeccable multiplayer

Very hard to learn; not suited for everyone
