Shadow of the Tomb Raider: "Jump scares, human sacrifice, and a Lara that has straight up lost her sh*t"

I've been in a long term relationship with Lara Croft - for more than 20 years - and honestly things had gotten stale. Even after her 2...

Jungle survival lessons with badass Lara; Scenery that's just begging for photo mode; A horror movie vibe that amps up the tension and actually adds to the story

Open world mechanics like crafting and hunting can feel restricted in such a linear game; The camera can be pretty unhelpful when you're trying to climb tricky overhangs

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: The Path Home (PlayStation 4) Review

The Path Home ends Shadow of the Tomb Raider 's season pass with a whimper. The tomb's main puzzle isn't as difficult as it comes across at first, and the whole act is over in a flash, wrapping up a plot point that very few will care about.

Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Review

Everyone knows who Lara Croft is. First created in 1996 and released on the original PlayStation, the Croft story has taken leaps and bounds forward with every new console generation, when a new console is announced, a new Tomb Raider is not too far behind either.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review: More of a Great Thing

Lara Croft is a fully realized tomb raider, in this exhilarating, third-person, action-adventure romp to stop the Mayan apocalypse.

Absolutely gorgeous graphics; Tight; slick gameplay; Fun new abilities

Awkward dialogue

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review – PS4

If you've played the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot or the much more immediate Rise of the Tomb Raider , then getting stuck into Shadow of the Tomb Raider is akin to taking a lay in a nice, warm bath.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider review

Take an enduring penchant for panache, be it dressed for dinner in black or sheathed in survival chic. Add an assemblage of weaponry, from the arch of an eyebrow to the stainless silver of a semi-automatic. Shake it all together with sex symbol status and a passport like a chequebook.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review

Lara Croft is all grown up, again. Developed by Eidos Montreal in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, Shadow of the Tomb Raider follows Lara as she once again tries to stop The Order of Trinity from finding artifacts capable of destroying the world.

Absolutely gorgeous world to explore; Challenge Tombs are a joy to find and conquer; Gunplay and stealth make for some strong encounters; Lara Croft continues to be a strong; well acted heroine

Narrative is weak; disjointed and throwaway; Pacing undermines exploration and mechanics; Fails to capitalise on past game's characters and story; Still no dinosaurs..

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review: A Fierceful End to Lara's Crusade

Unlike movies, only a handful of video game characters manage to pierce through a franchise's shortcomings to become a character that people love to play as. Well, Tomb Raider's Lara Croft , for me personally, is high up on the list of such games.

Gorgeous and detailed visuals; Tight gameplay; A fitting end to the origin story

New abilities are questionable; Weak side-missions

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review – Xbox One & PC

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a bold new direction as far as mood, storytelling, and character development, and is certainly the darkest installment of an already-dark trilogy. And while there is a satisfying ending that will leave you with a smile on your face there is also the yearning of wanting...

Positives + Unforgettable visuals + Immersive audio + Dark introspective storytelling + Lots of authentic Tomb Raider content + Great level of challenge + Game streams to avoid load screens + Fun arcade-style chase sequences

Negatives; HDR is a hassle on PC; Various glitches on PC waiting for patch; Xbox performance struggles in places; Lengthy load times during fast travel
