Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review

Baz questions his love for Lara in Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Challenge Tombs; Fun and familiar mechanics

Logically inconsistent; Lara's development; Does little to grow the franchises mechanics

"Another great addition to the Tomb Raider series"

Once again, a thoroughly enjoyable thematic experience that makes you feel part of the narrative. Excellent graphics and movement mechanics. The addition of climbing boot crampons made for a cool experience climbing near horizontal cliff faces.

In The Shadow Of Something Greater

Over five years ago, we were introduced to a revamped Lara Croft, different than the one we'd known for decades. Crystal Dynamics took on the task of rebooting the character by creating an origin story that would give us deeper insight into her personality and show her at her most vulnerable.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Simply wow… that was my first reaction to Shadow of the Tomb Raider , including OMG and quite a few moments that left me gobsmacked and emotional due to the powerful journey of our hero Lara Croft in this game which can be quite dark at times.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review - An Epic Conclusion to Lara's Origin Story

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the final chapter in Lara's origin story. As such you can expect to find some answers to questions you might have had over the last game or two, involving both Trinity and Lara's personal life. You start out in Cozumel, Mexico looking for an artifact.

Good end to a great trilogy

...except for the combat; That takes a noticeable back seat compared with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Shadow of the Tomb Raider places focus more on exploration and tomb raiding with some combat thrown in and I feel that hurt the pacing.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Lara Croft has been shooting and looting tombs for over 20 years now, but in 2013 Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix decided to throw us back to the beginning of the story as we witnessed the birth of the Tomb Raider, a narrative which continued with 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider .

Shadow Of The Tomb Raider review – not the end of the world

Tomb Raider and Lara Croft return in the final part of the reboot trilogy, with the best tomb-raiding since the PS1 days.

The best tomb-raiding the series has seen since the PS1 days, with excellent stealth and combat; Great graphics and an impressive game world filled with plenty of secrets

Few new features over the last game and the same old issues with poor characterisation and a silly plot that's taken far too seriously

Game Review: Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the end to Lara Croft's origin story since the Tomb Raider reboot and begins shortly after the events of Rise of the Tomb Raider with Lara and Jonah finding themselves travelling to Cozumel, a small town in Mexico in their on-going battle against Trinity, namely the head...
