Sennheiser RS 160 review Review

The RS 160 wireless headphones aren't exactly cheap, and they lack some of the features sported by similarly priced rivals. But they cut no corners when it comes to sound quality.

Great sound quality; Long wireless range; Good battery life; Comfortable to wear

Volume control is rather fiddly; No wired option

A little disappointed

I have cheaper set of Seenheiser wireless headphones that I have had for a few years. The volume control was malfunctioning, so I decided to buy this new set. The sound quality on these headphones is good, and there is no hiss. But, I was disappointed with the volume.

Excellent

Newegg's product specs don't make clear the difference between conventional FM wireless phones and these digital phones using Kleer technology. I have the impression that the reproduction is significantly better than Bluetooth.

This product is excellent; Faultless, interference-free reproduction in every room of my (OK, small) house; Well worth the extra cost over conventional FM Wireless phones; Plus excellent service from Newegg as always

The on/off and volume controls are very small and too close together

Sennheiser RS 160 review

Wireless headphones are a wonderful invention, but while they're no longer the heavy, battery-killing monstrosities they used to be, they still suffer from one pretty major problem: sound quality.

Sennheiser RS 160 headphones

The Sennheiser RS 160 are part of the company's digital wireless series, letting you enjoy your music without strangling yourself with cable. The RS 160 are of the over-the-ear type, giving you a full headphone and a separate transmitter station.

Great sounding audio; comfort; build quality; portability options

Can't bypass the wireless function and plug straight in; pricey

Sennheiser RS 160 wireless headphones

Although Sennheiser does make a few to Bluetooth headsets to keep the mobile phone market happy, it has never been terribly keen on this technology. Indeed, the company has just launched a new range of headphones that use its own ‘Kleer' wireless protocol.

The clever chaps at Sennheiser have been at it again, this time coming up with a pair of chunky cans that ditch the cables and enclose your lugholes in glorious noise-cancelling sonic luxury.

Aside from the obvious appeal of going wire-free, the RS160s has a bunch of other clever features that really impressed us; Setup is a doddle: plug the wireless transmitter into your sound source and the mains – though it can run on batteries too – and you're then free as a bird to lose yourself in...

These babies are far from small, and though they are really comfortable you might feel like you've got a couple of sofas wrapped around your ears; And while the sound quality overall is very strong, we did feel there was a little bit lacking in the booty-shaking bass department

A cracking pair of cans, ideal for using at home: the wireless tech works wonders

Cinch to set up; good range; great sound

Could have better bass
