Sennheiser HD 202

Exciting as it is to test and play with high-tech, high-end hi-fi, there's something rather thrilling about discovering a real budget belter of a product, which is exactly what we've got here in the form of the Sennheiser HD 202s.
Pros:
  • Extremely capable all-round audio for the very affordable price
  • more than reasonable styling and build quality
Cons:
  • Slightly tighter bass would be a bonus

Every review I've ever read of these states: "For the price, these can't be beat." And I agree, but "for the price" is a relevant caveat. Bass is pronounced, more so than my MDR-V6's, but is somewhat muddy, especially in the 125-500Hz range.

These were my 1st step up from earbuds and gaming headsets. I was very surprised by the difference, so much that I bought a 5 pack of these for less then $100 and gave them away for Christmas presents.
Pros:
  • Amazing Headphones for the price
Cons:
  • Not the most comfortable headphones around

HD202

I use my ipod out and about: on the tube, walking down busy roads etc. These closed back headphones really make a difference. Get rid of way more sound than a pair of active noise cancelling ones I used to own. The sound is also the best Ive ever had from a pair of headphones.

Very satisfied for the price point

Let me begin by saying that i am no audiophile but I appreciate good sound enough that I outfitted my comp with the Xfi class of soundcard. That, paired with my 20 yr old Sony compact stereo, satisfies my audio cravings.
Pros:
  • Clear Sound
  • Lightweight
  • Powerful

Great value for price

I rate this 4/5 stars overall because of the overall value of the headphones. Overall sound quality is definitely not stellar, but I double dare ya to find anything less than $25 that sounds better.

Sennheiser HD 202

Although just one number separates Sennheiser's HD 202 headphones from the HD 201, they're actually much closer to the enormously popular HD 212 Pro.  These two models come from the same generation and share a similar style,
Pros:
  • Light
  • but perhaps too tight for some
  • Well-finished
  • refined design
Cons:
  • Uneven sound with too much bass
  • Lacking in stereo: sound is too central
