PCSTATS is testing out SanDisk's Extreme 240GB SSD, a 6Gb/s SATA III drive rated to 550MB/s Read and 520MB/s Write (sequential) in ATTO Disk Benchmark. SanDisk's Extreme SSD uses 24nm Toggle Mode MLC NAND Flash and the popular LSI SandForce SF-2281 controller.

Fairly recently I had the opportunity to take a look at a SanDisk Ultra II 240GB SSD and it certainly didn't disappoint. This time we have an SSD from the fastest range SanDisk have to offer, the SanDisk Extreme PRO 480GB, but is it as Extreme as its namesake?

Without a doubt, the Extreme II was one of the best SSDs we ever tested, and I wasn't sure if any company would be able to best its performance with a SATA based product. Little did I know it would be SanDisk looking to raise the bar again, this time with exceptional engineering rather than brute...

When you first look at the Extreme PRO series you will raise an eyebrow and will start to wonder that exactly has been changed over the Extreme II series from SanDisk. Well, when we purely talk about peak performance, sure nothing much.

A nice upgrade from the regular 5400 rpm hard drive. It finds files fast and boot up time is reduced as well. I also boosted up my memory on my 2012 MacBook Pro to 16gb, so in combination with the SSD there is a noticeable difference.

Let me start by saying i run this drive as the boot and holds most of my music that i listen to. It still shows 100% life remaining on the SanDisk dashboard. no problems with startups or shutdowns. i keep a battery backup on so no power drops.

Last year I bought three of the 240GB model for my primary desktop machine, in support of its 'home workstation' role. I/O speeds are very important for build times and Visual Studio responsiveness, so consistent low latency is a hard requirement.
