Samurai Warriors 4-II review (PS4)

The naming conventions that Tecmo Koei follows with its Musou titles have grown increasingly incongruous over the last few years. Samurai Warriors 4-II doesn't fall within the Chronicles or Xtreme Legends lines, but instead serves as a pseudo-sequel to last year's PlayStation 4 entry.

The Samurai Warriors games always appealed to me a bit more than the Dynasty Warriors games, for whatever reason I found them easier to get into and enjoy. It's been a while since I've experience the feudal Japanese soap opera of gaming, but I think after spending well over a hundred hours in...

Review: Samurai Warriors 4-II (Sony Playstation 4)

A sensation in its home country of Japan, and a cult hit in other countries, Koei's Musou series is an amalgamation of real time strategy and frantic, beat-em-up style action. Since the original introduction to this formula with Dynasty Warriors 2 on PS2, the series for has seen eight sequels to its...

Samurai Warriors 4-II

Samurai Warriors is one of the more interesting branches in Koei's long-lasting series of so-called Musou titles. Within the series we have seen, for example, the adventures of heroes from the One Piece anime, and last year even Link and Zelda, but in Samurai Warriors the events in the game are...

Samurai Warriors 4-II Review – Not Quite a Sequel nor an Expansion

Given that Samurai Warriors 4-II has a "II" in it, most would jump to the conclusion that it's the sequel to Samurai Warriors 4. Unfortunately that's not the case. It's also not truly an expansion either. So what the heck is Samurai Warriors 4-II?

New presentation of the story; Revamped upgrade system; Revamped ability obtainment; New survival mode; Local or online co-op

Visuals not upgraded; Not truly a "new" Samurai Warriors

A great game. simply put.

Iv'e been a fan since the very first, and I have to say since that one, I was always disspointed in the ones after it, taking away all the extra gameplay modes, and decreasing the difficulty. there is no other game greater than the first in this series, due to the difficulty and nostalgia.

Samurai Warriors 4-II Review

There are two types of hack-n-slash games out there in the market. There are the ones that are like Devil May Cry that mixes explosive action with intricat

Full of action; Multiple playable characters; Hours of gameplay

Slightly outdated graphics; Lacks innovation; Repetitive gameplay

Replayable.

Great character design and massive replayability allow you to overlook the fact that the story is a bit subpar.

Samurai Warriors 4-II Review

At the risk of showing my true age, I readily admit to playing the first few Dynasty Warriors games when they were first released on the original PlayStation. However, unlike myself, the series hasn't aged well.

Massive battles; Solid framerate; Partially historic

Quickly becomes monotonous; Limited combat moveset; Most enemies look identical; No save points during battle; Tags
