Really disappointing. I wasn't super thrilled with the last Empires title (Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires) because of how stripped-down it felt, and was hoping for something different, maybe something that felt like a more fleshed-out experience.

First Empire game ever played and I love it so far. The only thing negative is that is was very complicated and hard to get in the begging. But now I am putting tons of hours into it. Glad I bought it
This game was a huge improvement from the last games and the characters were fun to play with. Ignore all the repetitious stuff people say about the warrior games because it's so much fun taking out hundreds of people however this games story needed a lot of cutscenes.
I bought this as a gift and my boys do seem to be enjoying it. I bought it because they are very keen on the Samurai Heroes game that they already own. The dialogue in game is in Japanese with English subtitle, which was unexpected.
could not find this at my local shop, thankfully it was here at a great price, will buy again
good fun action game
If you just want to lay back and wade through a sea of enemies and wreck them all this game is perfect. However, you're not completely immortal so the game can still keep you on your toes. I've racked up to the cap of 9999 combos. There's a lot of characters to choose from which is great.
I am a big fan of the Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi series. Bought them all when they came out at release(own all the main series mentioned above, their Xtreme Legends and Empires, all the way back to Dynasty Warriors 2 on ps2). Sooo many hours of fun from these games.
I must admit that I'm relatively new to the hack and slash genre, but the few games that I have played, I have enjoyed immensely. Samurai Warriors 4 Empires is the first I have played in the series so I cannot comment on how it has changed from its predecessors.
Fun battles and strategy system; good character development with interesting and sometimes humorous cutscenes
No localization but there are subtitles
The Warriors franchise and its formula is pretty common knowledge these days, with the hack 'n' slash-focused battles where you mow down hundreds of enemie
hack ‘n' slash gameplay is still fun; engaging strategy elements
steep learning curve
