Both the T5 500GB and 1TB contraptions (as for external/portable) are utterly convincing - see my 1TB results with USB 3.1, haven't even bothered to reformat this one to NTFS. Salivating for a 2TB or even 4TB - once a second mortgage won't be required...

Samsung Portable SSD T5 250GB, USB 3.1 (Gen 2) Type-C, Up to 540MB/s, Shock Resistant, 3 Years Warranty

This is so small and light but so fast. A great external drive and so easy to carry around. Highly recommended.

Great For Bootable Drive

This is a great drive to put all your bootable images on. It's fast and at 250GB has a lot of space. I use it to run Windows2Go on USB. It's a lifesaver. I own two of them.

Only issue is setting up the device to communicate with Mac and Windows

I have to use the great tech service to set up device so it can be used for Windows and Mac at different times . Great tech service . It would be nice to have written directions that came with the unit that clearly explained the setting of the device so that both windows and Mac can use it .

Realistic color, Durable, Lightweight, great size and capacity ; most ssd ‘s not as small

no cons except for improving directions on use

If you use a computer, perhaps the most significant development in the past few years has been the rise of solid-state drives aka SSDs. GPUs continue to evolve at a fast pace, but the improvements in the performance of most other PC components has been incremental at best - that's if you don't count...

Great performance; Hardware encryption; Premium design and pocketable form factor; USB Type-C and Type-A cables included

Barebones bundled software

Samsung T5 1TB Portable SSD Review

The T5 is an updated version of their portable line and the first to use Samsung's 64-layer V-NAND technology. By using the most up-to-date advances in storage density and USB protocols, Samsung has produced a high speed, portable SSD that's very compact and versatile.

Personal data storage has always been a really interesting category because, while everyone needs storage, there's still a lot of potential customers would rather pass on the category wholesale than deal with some of the caveats and hassle it sometimes entails.

Slim and light design; Ultra-fast storage speeds

More expensive per-GB; Limited color options
