Shifting gears around

The Gear S2 is an interesting new player in the wearable realm that definitely offers a twist or two of its own to impress. Granted, that is still the case with most other offers in the fresh and rapidly-developing smartwatch niche, but the Gear S2 is a true change of pace within Samsung's rich...

Samsung Gear S2 review: The Tizen gamble

You may know Samsung as the lead manufacturer for Android, with its smartphone sales decimating those of the official Nexus series. However, it also has a habit of going off on a tangent, in the occasional bid for world domination.

Well implemented bezel control; good build quality; always-on screen option

Expensive; poor third-party app support; Huawei Watch aces design

Goondu review: Samsung Gear S2

A lot has happened since Samsung unveiled its first smart watch a couple of years ago. No longer is its latest version stuck with a square screen . Nor it is a totally useless gizmo without your phone.

Samsung Gear S2 review: the bezel spins both ways

When we took Samsung's first smartwatch flagship , we pinned the thing as a smartphone that tried to be everything it could on a chunky wrist lump. It did so much, maybe too much for a watch.

Samsung Gear S2

Samsung's back catalogue of smartwatches has been, to put it mildly, poor. The vast array of Gear-branded wearables have been bulky, ugly and running an operating system devoid of killer features and decent apps. The Gear S2 hopes to change this.

Bright; sharp display; Rotating bezel is the best wearable feature yet; Not limited to Samsung handsets

Tizen is limiting; Expensive for what you get; Poor; slow voice search

Samsung Gear S2 review: a giant leap in smartwatch design

The Samsung Gear S2 is without doubt one of the best smartwatches I've ever used. The innovations that Samsung introduced with the device are meaningful, and change the way I interact with smartwatches.

Excellent screen; Innovative rotating bezel; Slick Tizen UI

Limited number of apps; Lacking customisation options; Poor voice control

Samsung's circular faced Gear S2 is easily the best smartwatch it's ever made. There's a line, though, between being the best, and being worth buying. Over at PC World, I've examined the very nice Gear S2. So as I inevitably say at this point, go and read it now! Source: PC World

Samsung Gear S2 review: seventh time lucky for Korean firm's smartwatch

Latest Android-compatible Tizen watch is comfortable to wear, has a crisp round screen and great rotating bezel, making it Samsung's best by a mile

comfortable; excellent rotating bezel interface; wide Android compatibility; waterproof; great screen; NFC

limited app support; proprietary straps; S-Voice inferior to Google Now; no cross-platform support

Samsung's latest smartwatch is easily its best.

Samsung is notable in this field simply because it's issued so many smartwatches over the relatively short period in which smartwatches have even existed. It seems as though every time we turn around, there's a new Samsung smartwatch promising to wow us with new and innovative features.

Spinning bezel is ridiculously fun; Fast notifications; Excellent AMOLED screen; Works with most Android devices

Can't take calls; Tizen rather than Android Wear; Regular S2 model can't take a standard watch band

Comfortable, sleek. I feel like Captain Kirk.

I just purchased the Verizon 3G model. I never saw the point of having a smartwatch that has to stay tethered to your phone. So, I waited. The Gear S was a little bulky for my taste even though it had the features I liked. I have been using the MotoActV for fitness training the past 4 years or so.

3G; Has a built in speaker and mic; Plays stored music through watch or headset

Lack of apps for Tizen
