Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus review: Dual camera and improvements over Galaxy S8 makes this the Android smartphone to beat

After the launch of Apple's 10 th anniversary iPhone X , all eyes were on Samsung to check whether the Korean smartphone giant could deliver a smartphone that could one-up Apple's new Face ID technology along with its edge-to-edge display, which also introduced the annoying notch.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Smartphone Review

With the Galaxy S9 Plus, Samsung has managed to create a great smartphone again that received many sensible improvements but no real innovations. The main camera's two aperture levels are a great thing to have and work well in everyday life. Samsung has also optimized the image quality further.

stylish design, great display, fast SoC, expandable storage, LTE Cat; 18, stereo speakers, IP67, good sensor equipment, USB 3.1 with DP, HDMI, and OTG, wireless-charging, great dual camera, optional dual-SIM (Duos model

no dual-VoLTE; worse battery runtimes than predecessor; long charging time; SoC throttling under constant load; no warranty for damage caused by liquids

Though it'd be easy to talk down Samsung's bold claim that the new Galaxy S9 and S9+ "reimagine" the camera, it's hard to argue that putting that particular aspect of their latest flagship smartphone front-and-center isn't a savvy move by the South Korean tech giant.

Great camera for both stills and video; Infinity Display still great

Battery life; Bixby still kinda mediocre; Your mileage may vary on AR emojis

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus

The Galaxy S9+ is an iterative update, but that doesn't stop it from grabbing the top spot, at least as far as Android phones are considered.

Dual Aperture camera; Astoundingly bright display; Superior build quality

AR Emoji; Cluttered UI

It has been the uncrowned king of the Android smartphone kingdom – no phone has been more compared with Android's bête noire, the iPhone, for more than half a decade now. But recent times have seen Samsung's iconic Galaxy S series face an increasing number of challenges not just from Cupertino but...

Great display and sound; Very good cameras; Excellent overall performance

Samsung Experience UI remains cluttered; Camera not "as great" as hyped; On the expensive side

All of which brings this review of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus to a rather spongy, limp end. Don't get me wrong, I do like the S9 Plus. It's a great phone with two great cameras that shoot fabulous photos and video.

Samsung Galaxy S9+ review: The best Android flagship, best camera too

Samsung Galaxy S9+ review: This is a solid phone with top of the line processing, the best Android camera and the best iteration of almost every other feature that you want in a flagship phone.

Beautiful and smartly designed

Loving this phone so far. Upgraded from the Galaxy S6 edge and I'm really enjoying the quality of the screen, camera, and overall layout of this phone. I love the side panel for frequently used apps instead of having them covering the home screen.

Review: Samsung Galaxy S9+

When Samsung unveiled its Samsung's Galaxy S9 and S9+ less than a month ago, there was a palpable air of disappointment. While it offers one or two new or improved features, on paper, it appears to be very similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ of last year.

Gorgeous design and screen; excellent camera; blazing-fast performance

Average battery life; 'Intelligent Scan' is glitchy; duplicate apps - and Bixby still needs work

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus

The Galaxy S9 Plus is considered a incremental upgrade from the Galaxy S8 Plus, but that's not to mean the few new features it brings to the table aren't worth your hard-earned cash – even if there isn't a flashy new design to go with them.

Feels great for a big phone; The OLED display is great and highly customisable; Numerous camera features on offer

Iterative upgrade; AR Emoji are just bad; Some lag with Samsung's software
