After my time with the S9 I have to admit there is a lot to like, and a few things that could use a little improvement here or there. From the front, this looks exactly like the older model the S8, and some people will not like the fact their expensive new smartphone looks the same as their friends...

Samsung's Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus were announced in late February and went on sale in the middle of March. Since that time, ZDNet's Matthew Miller reviewed the bigger Galaxy S9 Plus, proclaiming the device is "Android perfection achieved."

The Samsung Galaxy S9 forces us to question upgrades for their own sake. On the one hand, there's our desire as consumers to have the very latest tech gadget, even if we don't even use the phone we have now to its full extent.

The Galaxy S9 is an evolution rather than a revolution, but Samsung has upgraded it in all the right places.

Camera features like Dual Aperture and Super Slow-mo are a little gimmicky; AR Emoji is fun but not as advanced as Apple's Animoji; The single camera...

Unless you have the S8 and S9 side by side, you won't see much of a difference between them, at least while you're looking at them from the front.

Some features could be slicker; It's pricey

While it's not perfect, the Galaxy S9 is a fantastic device. It's got a brilliant display, great camera, brilliant performance all-round, and in a body that's easily one of the most elegant ever released. Its stereo sound makes such a difference to media consumption too.

Battery isn't great; Camera over-exposes highlights regularly; AR Emoji and Bixby need a lot of improving; Expensive

We're going to have to wait for big jumps in technology, but although the Galaxy S9 only brings a disappointingly small bunch of minor improvements it's still an amazing smartphone that will be hard to beat in 2018.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is a continuation of the path the South Korean company started last year with the Galaxy S8. Both devices are very similar and nearly identical in look and feel.

Samsung's latest flagship is really good if you spend most of your time in Instagram feeds or creating content for the internet.
