Samsung Galaxy S8 review

In terms of design and display technology, Samsung’s twin-towers hit the ball right out of the park. These are the most impressive and desirable handsets Samsung has ever made, and they are the flagship smartphones to beat right now with no challenger on the horizon until the next iPhone hits the...

Samsung Galaxy S8 review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Samsung Galaxy S8 review

“The iPhone 14 isn't a huge upgrade compared to its predecessor. But with a great design, screen, performance, and cameras, that's far from a bad thing at all.”

Comfortable, high-end build, OLED screen looks fantastic, A15 chip performs great, Good camera upgrades, Dependable battery life, Helpful safety features

60Hz display, No telephoto camera, eSIM might be a pain for some

Samsung Galaxy S8 review

The iPhone 14 isn’t much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it’s still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades

Smaller and fine-spun. Samsung's successor of the successful Galaxy S7 immediately catches the eye with its new design language: narrower edges and more screen. The Galaxy S8 is also a slightly more balanced product than its sister model, and its price is even lower.

excellent screen, stylish design, fast SoC, very good GPS qualities, fast Wi-Fi, Gigabit LTE, decent call quality, solid sensor configuration, USB 3.1 with DP, HDMI, and OTG, good battery life, quick-charge and wireless charging, water and dust-resistant, very good camera,...

...though not much better than in the predecessor, no dual-SIM, fingerprint scanner hard to find via touch, SoC throttling during permanent load, warranty does not cover damage due to liquids

Samsung Galaxy S8 review

Samsung has taken the best phone around and made it even better with an impressive Infinity screen and premium design. It ticks a shedload of boxes - as you'd expect from a flagship. It's one of the best phones of 2017, and is nearly half the price of the iPhone X. But the biometrics are a let down. If you want a slightly larger screen and battery, then the S8+ also gets our approval. Though now, the OnePlus 5T offers staunch competition on specs and price.

Samsung Galaxy S8 review

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is the best smartphone available, full stop. It has raised the bar for top-end smartphone design, is one of the most future-proofed phones you can buy and squeezes a large selection of cutting-edge technology into a consumer-friendly package that anyone can use.

Pros: 64GB + microSD card slot, wireless charging, IP68, brilliant screen, tiny body, great camera, iris scanner, 24-hour battery, pressure-sensitive screen, notification LED

Cons: fixed battery, only Android 7.0, no USB-PD, fingerprint scanner placement not ideal

Samsung Galaxy S8 review

To determine how the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ compare to other smartphones phones, with respect to battery life, we ran the devices through two battery benchmarks you can find on the Google Play store -- AnTuTu Tester's Battery benchmark and PCMark for Android's Work 2.0 Battery Life test.

Gorgeous, near-bezelless design, Beautiful, wide-aspect AMOLED displays, Fastest Android phones on market, Excellent camera performance, Impressive battery life, Super-premium design

Pricey, Maybe a little too slippery for some, Black units are smudge magnets

Samsung Galaxy S8 review

The Galaxy S8 marks a big change for Samsung—the company has finally updated its phone design. The Galaxy S7, with its hardware buttons and giant front SAMSUNG logo, was a design that had been frozen in time for four or five years. It seemed very dated.

A slim-bezel design finally brings a more modern design to the Galaxy line., On-screen buttons allow for smaller bezels, bigger screens, and a customizable (and correctable) button order., Samsung's always-on hard-press home button is an awesome and innovative feature.

The gimmicks. The iris scanner, curved screen, and heart rate sensor all seem designed to give talking points to your local Verizon salesperson, rather than provide a good user experience for customers., The glass back is fragile and a fingerprint magnet., Touchwiz is still a janky lag-fest.
