Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930F 32GB

Samsung Galaxy S7 is the new flagship smartphone from Samsung. It was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February 2016 and offers improvements over older models across the board in terms of speed, battery life, design, durability and camera performance. Critics think that this is one of the best Android phones ever produced. Samsung's aims with the S7 are obvious. It needs to revive relative poor Galaxy S6 sales and to successfully compete with the iPhone 6S and future iPhone models.

The Galaxy S7 design features a curved glass back, which means that holding it feels comfortably. Moreover, the height of the protruding camera lens on the back has been reduced to less than 0.5 mm so the surface becomes flatter.

The technical specs are impressive as one has come to expect of Galaxy phones. The S7 is powered by a blazing fast 2.15 GHz quad-cord Snapdragon processor improving processing speeds by 30% and graphics performance by an astounding 64% compared to Galaxy S6. Speed isn't the only thing that counts from a user perspective if the RAM memory isn't sufficient. Prospective S7 buyers need not to worry, since the phone comes with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. There's also 32 GB of storage available.

The camera has f1.7 aperture and captures 25% more light than the S6 model. The 1.4 micron pixels offers improved brightness and clarity. The auto-focus has also undergone substantial enhancements by adopting dual photodiode pixel auto-focus, a technology used by DSLR cameras that means significantly faster auto-focus. In non-technical jargon: S7's camera snaps higher quality photos faster.

Galaxy S7 runs on the latest Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 operating system, which means that it can take advantage of latest app features that developers around the globe are working on.

Samsung has demonstrated that it listens to its users and have brought back some popular features that the S6 models had dropped. Waterproofing and support for microSD card are features that appeal to Samsung users and both have been reintroduced with the S7 model.

The battery charging is fast and 50% charging is accomplished in only 30 minutes (wired charging). A new feature is the always-on display. Basic information like time, calendar and notifications are displayed in a power-saving mode. Hence, gleaning at the phone to check the time doesn't require a fully-illuminated screen.

Samsung's Galaxy S7 fixes the main problem of the excellent Galaxy S6, namely the lack of expandable storage, while tweaking other elements such as the gorgeous design to make them even better. The result is a very good flagship phone, although not quite perfect.

Brilliant screen; Gorgeous design; Expandable storage; Strong camera; Top performance

The Samsung Galaxy S7, already Oh, it's very real and it's very fast. But most importantly, it takes the formula seen with the last generation, and instead of completely revamping, makes the necessary tweaks to give a better overall experience.

The best smartphone camera; It's gorgeous (and more ergonomic; Added RAM needed boost; Proof that great cameras can have bumps axed; Water resistance

Touchwiz still finicky at times; Lots of carrier crapware; A gallery for fingerprints

Samsung Galaxy S7 review: This is the phone to beat

Editors' note (March 28, 2017): Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, the follow ups to 2016's excellent Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Priced at $750 (£689 and AU$1,199), the Galaxy S8 features a beautifully curved 5.8-inch screen with an ultra-narrow bezel; facial recognition as an alternative way to unlock the phone; and Samsung's nascent Bixby voice assistant. The S8 Plus costs a bit more -- $850, £779 or AU$1349 -- and comes equipped with a larger body and battery, but is otherwise identical.

The fast, powerful, beautiful Galaxy S7 phone is 2016's all-around phone to beat.

Polished design; Awesome camera; Long battery life; microSD storage slot and water-resistant (again!).

Annoyingly reflective; Smudge magnet; Plastic-looking selfies even with no filter; No removable battery, which isn't surprising, but is still a compromise compared to 2014's S5.

Samsung Galaxy S7

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is one of the best Android smartphones in India right now. It performs better than any other device in the market, and has the best camera. It's beaten only by the S7 Edge, but in terms of looks, this is still not up to the mark.

Top of the line performance; Excellent camera; Waterproof

Touchwiz needs to be lighter; Samsung needs to change the looks

Review: Samsung Galaxy S7

The company that stuck a huge 10x zoom lens on the Galaxy S4, made seven Gear wearables in less than three years and paid Jay-Z US$5 million so that it could release his album for free? Well, those days are over.

Samsung Galaxy S7

The beauty of what we've engineered is to give you the slimmest feel in your hand without compromising the big screen size. And the elegantly curved front and back fit in your palm just right. It's as beautiful to look at, as it is to us.

Absolutely superb smartphone

This phone is far superior to my previous S4 mini. GPS very quick to find current location and stay with it. Battery will last for a day out using mobile data and GPS. Battery charges from low to full charge in about an hour. Has a slot for micro SD card, ideal for lots of photos and mapping data.

Samsung Galaxy S7 review: Still the best phone you can buy

The Samsung Galaxy S6 was the best phone of 2015 and, although it's still early days, the Galaxy S7 is a serious contender for best phone of 2016. Samsung has taken into account what its fans want, addressing the three main areas of concern: removable storage, waterproofing and battery life.

Always breaks

I bought my first S7 a year ago, it lasted 4 weeks. I got a replacement and had consistent issues. Sometimes it just wont turn on for 24hrs or so even though its at 100% battery, on charge, connected to PC, you name it I tried it.
