Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus review

An excellent phone on its own merits, the Edge Plus is unfortunately let down by the fact that it's a little unnecessary compared to its predecessor.

Fantastic screen; Great camera; Gorgeous design; Good performance

Expensive; Can be tricky to use one-handed; Battery life is a little disappointing; Edge remains pointless

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge Plus review: The edge of reason

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is a stunning phone to look at, one that has literally turned heads in our 10 days of daily use. Its curved screen edges make its design stand out from the crowd, so if ever you wanted a phone to get tongues wagging then, well, this is the one.

It's head-turningly incredible to look at; fast user experience without overheating; better battery life than S6 edge; great camera results; excellent fingerprint scanner

Screen vignette; no microSD slot; limited edge functionality compared to Note Edge; slow shutter speed nuisance; very expensive

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ review

More than a blown-up S6 Edge, this big-screen beauty is also a worthy follow-up to the Note 4

Superb screen; Sublime camera; High quality build and design

High price; No IR transmitter

Samsung has a massive lead when it comes to market share in Android, with a large number of handsets aimed at all levels of the market. Their top tier devices obviously get the lions share of the attention though and the most recent announcements are the Galaxy Note 5 and the larger version of their...

Absolutely beautiful screen; Camera of your dreams; Fast and responsive

Still limited utility in the curved edge display; Curved screen and large size makes phone unwieldy to hold; Pretty to look at but the glass back is still a worry; That price

The first word that comes to mind when you're using the Samsung's new Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Note5 is power. The new devices have raised the bar for smartphones in terms of design and performance.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ review: Powerful everyday device, but fierce competitors in its own family

Samsung had announced the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and its large screen flagship, the Galaxy Note 5 , around the same time. While both these are large screen phones, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is a higher end variant of the dual-edge display phone Samsung launched this year – the Galaxy S6 edge .

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Review

It looks like Samsung has a winner in the Galaxy S6 Edge. So much so that they made a bigger version of it - the 5.7-inch Galaxy S6 Edge+ . Announced alongside the Galaxy Note 5 last week, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ offers a supersized version of the unique and elegant dual-curve display that many users...

* Beautiful; unique design; * Large; gorgeous display; * Impressive performance; * Great imaging quality; * Very good battery life; * Fast charging; * Built-in wireless charging

* No expandable storage option; * Quite expensive

We're intrigued by how the S6 Edge+ will be received; with it's eye-catching design, expanded proportions and smart charging capabilities. At £599 it's nothing but premium, flagship phablet, but with demand for rival devices like last year's Note 4 and the iPhone 6/6s Plus, there's an unquestionable...

Enhanced edge screen functionality; Blazing performance; Stunning design; Excellent cameras

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ review: Samsung supersizes its sexiest phone's screen -- and price tag

Editors' note (March 28, 2017): Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, the follow ups to 2016's excellent Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Priced at $750 (£689 and AU$1,199), the Galaxy S8 features a beautifully curved 5.8-inch screen with an ultra-narrow bezel; facial recognition as an alternative way to unlock the phone; and Samsung's nascent Bixby voice assistant. The S8 Plus costs a bit more -- $850, £779 or AU$1349 -- and comes equipped with a larger body and battery, but is otherwise identical.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ if you love the idea of a wraparound screen; otherwise, you'll be able to find less expensive phones that do nearly as much.

Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge+ has a compelling design, top-tier specs and excellent battery life; Its second menu for the curved display adds some useful shortcuts.

One of the most expensive handsets on the market, the Edge+'s usefulness doesn't live up to its sky-high price; Fans of removable batteries and microSD card slots will be disappointed that this has neither.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ review

With more memory and excellent battery life the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is a powerful phone and a great choice if you want a large screen. However, it's expensive, unwieldy and Samsung has dropped the IR blaster and hardly added anything to the edge screen. With the regular S6 available for less than £340 it's a no brainer.
