Samsung Gear Fit Review: This Curvaceous Beauty is a Striking Fitness Tracker/Smartwatch Combo

The Samsung Gear Fit is a futuristic looking smartwatch that focuses on being a fitness band first and a smartwatch second. When it first appeared on the scene ...

Stunning curved display is bright, big and beautiful; Offers a unique design that is futuristic.

Proprietary charger; Reading emails is a little awkward on the display and not easy to manage; Software could use a more than a few tweaks to make it more intuitive.

A frequent argument voiced by SmartWatch critics is the running time. While classical watches will run for years with the same battery, their modern counterparts have to be charged relatively frequently. The supplied charging adapter must be connected to the bottom of the watch.

sharp display with very good color representation; low weight and high comfort; water and dust-proof; good battery life

pedometer has low accuracy; many functions can only be used with Samsung Smartphone nearby; integrated sleep monitoring only very rudimentary; bracelet too short

Samsung Gear Fit

The Gear Fit looks the part, but when it comes to results, it doesn't make the podium. Like many Samsung devices, it's a jack of all trades, master of none. Its fitness skills are left wanting, while the screen is too cramped to make it a decent smartwatch.

Smartwatches were slated to be the next big thing, however, after countless releases; they still haven't quite taken off just yet. Then on the other side of the spectrum, we have fitness bands, which are actually doing very well.

Comfortable; Nice and bright curved AMOLED display; Battery life; Easy to use; IP67 certified

Limited functionality; Accuracy; Narrow display is a little awkward; Charger

Samsung Gear Fit Smartwatch Review and Giveaway

Don't buy it. For some users access to health metrics and notifications in a $200 package is exactly what they're looking for. For the rest of us, buy a device dedicated to either one or the other.

Samsung has managed to put a smartwatch on my wrist, and I don't mind it – at least, I don't mind the feel of it. Unfortunately, while there's some appealing qualities to the Gear Fit , there's also a few aspects of Samsung 's $250 smartwatch that are a bit of a mess.

Not all that I expected

I am disappointed that the only Excercise options are Walking, Running, Hiking. I was hoping to count calories if I was doing other items like taking group class, on exercise bike, working in the yard.

Easy To Use; Low Power Consumption; Quality Construction

Limited Exercise Options

A perfect fit

I am not sure if the actual steps that are recorded, are totally accurate. I do use this product at work to track my steps and I love it. The advantages of this tracker is that one size fits all. I say this because my wrists are very small. I use the tracker to monitor my sleep, pulse and steps.

Easy To Set Up; Easy To Use; Low Power Consumption; Quality Construction

Samsung Gear Fit review

The new Samsung Galaxy S5 is packed with features designed to take advantage of Samsung's latest range of wearables. That'll be the Gear 2, Gear Neo and this cheeky little biometrics-measuring wristband, the Gear Fit.

Attractive curved screen and good looks; lightweight; changeable strap; water and dust proof

Leather strap option would have been nice; no option to add third-party apps; no option to filter messages; accelerator doesn't always activate screen when you move
