Slowly but surely I'm developing into an earbud junkie who prefers having something on my ears all day. Headphones, anti-noise cancellation, music, phone calls, the list goes on.

A huge step up from the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro offer better sound and microphone quality with multipoint pairing and spatial audio support. They don’t offer the same level of noise cancellation as over-ear headphones or the sound quality of high-end earbuds, but for their price they offer just enough of both to be competitive.

Samsung’s accessory strategy seems pretty consistent: Jump into a category, and just keep iterating. Its smartwatches and fitness trackers get updated seemingly randomly, with no set schedule. Same goes for the company’s smartphone accessories. More recently, Samsung has jumped into true wireless earbuds in a big way. The first Galaxy Buds were released less than two years ago, in March 2019. Since then we’ve gotten the Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live, the latter launching just months ago, in August of last year. Now here we are, with the new Galaxy Buds Pro. It isn’t immediately apparent what’s so “Pro” about them, other than they have a couple extra features over the Buds Live and they’re more expensive. But that’s what I’m here to find out. Samsung’s third attempt at dethroning the Apple AirPods, the Galaxy Buds Pro, is the company's finest yet. They're the best sounding Samsung set I’ve tested since the first-gen Galaxy Buds, offering solid noise cancellation, decent mic quality and a robust water-resistant build.

Samsung’s third attempt at dethroning the Apple AirPods, the Galaxy Buds Pro, is the company's finest yet. They're the best sounding Samsung set I’ve tested since the first-gen Galaxy Buds, offering solid noise cancellation, decent mic quality and a robust water-resistant build. The only downside is that their shape can make getting a solid seal tricky, which is a particular annoyance given the sensitivity of their touch controls.
