Samsung MM-A800 Surprises (And Disappoints)

Samsung's MM-A800 two-megapixel camera phone certainly has many features: picture mail, business card scanning, multimedia playback and speech-to-text dictation. But while attractive on paper, most of the capabilities managed to disappointment in some way.

A-game

You don't need to be the best if you can be the crowd favorite. The Samsung Galaxy A8 is Samsung's thinnest smartphone yet and is certainly learning from the Note5 in some respects, but while it can't beat it on features it's likely to rival it on popularity.

Samsung Galaxy A8

The Samsung Galaxy A8 is a slight step down from the Galaxy S9 - or even the Galaxy S8 - in just about every way, but it still delivers many of the core features offered by the flagships. You can get more for your money elsewhere, but if you're set on Samsung there's little to complain about here.

Super-vivid OLED screen; Quality build; Excellent water resistance

Low light photos could be better; No 4K video recording; You'll find better value elsewhere

Samsung's new phones to feature dual selfie cameras

An S ranking may be best, but a good, old-fashioned A is looking pretty darn sweet right now.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus will have plenty of premium touches and cost less than a Galaxy S8 or Note 8.

Samsung Galaxy A8 review

So I think I've said quite a lot of good things about the two phones, I love its glassy design and battery performance, the dual front cameras are pretty good but so is the main camera, they don't heat up much when gaming and they're one of the new mid-range tier phones that has water and dust...

Samsung Galaxy A8 review

With the Galaxy A8 (2018), Samsung has successfully brought the design and features normally found in their premium offerings to the upper mid-range category. If we’re going to place it somewhere, it’s between mid-range and flagship.

* Premium build, * Nice display, * Good performance, * Good cameras, * Long battery life, * Water and dust-resistance
