The story of Saints Row is almost as crazy as what the games have now become. Originally a Grand Theft Auto clone, it decided to stop taking itself seriously and just embrace the insanity around the time of Saints Row: The Third .

The Saints Row and Grand Theft Auto franchises are back to do battle; this time on next-gen systems. In 2013 Volition struck the first blow with their fourth installment of Saints Row beating GTA V to last-gen consoles by only three weeks.

The Saints Row series might well have started as a GTA clone , but with each new game the craziness has been dialled up, and now there's aliens, super powers and a psychotic US President. It's with this type of absurdity that the series has found its own identity.

Objectively, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected + Gat Out of Hell is the weakest remaster to be released on a current-gen systems to date. It boasts a serviceable graphical uptick, packaged with all the DLC missions and weapons, plus a short but sweet standalone DLC pack as a cherry on top.

The Saints Row franchise has always been compared to anything that GTA does. It's after all an open-world sandbox game. Because of this it's always played second fiddle to the monster that's the GTA franchise, until now. I'm about to tell you something very important.
