Saints Row IV: Re-Elected Review – PlayStation 4

The Saints Row and Grand Theft Auto franchises are back to do battle; this time on next-gen systems. In 2013 Volition struck the first blow with their fourth installment of Saints Row beating GTA V to last-gen consoles by only three weeks.

Positives All of the DLC is included Slightly better graphics and framerate DualShock 4 glows Purple; represent

Negatives Not a huge boost in quality Randomly locks up console

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected & Gat Out of Hell (PS4) - Review

Remember Saints Row 1 & 2 ? Slightly off-beat if utterly average gangster sandbox games. Entirely forgettable. Then came Saints Row III, which was... less forgettable (it is hard to forget fighting a tiger with a dildo), and Saints Row IV , a game that seared itself into the minds of those who...

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected PS4 Review

The Saints Row series might well have started as a GTA clone , but with each new game the craziness has been dialled up, and now there's aliens, super powers and a psychotic US President. It's with this type of absurdity that the series has found its own identity.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected + Gat Out of Hell

Objectively, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected + Gat Out of Hell is the weakest remaster to be released on a current-gen systems to date. It boasts a serviceable graphical uptick, packaged with all the DLC missions and weapons, plus a short but sweet standalone DLC pack as a cherry on top.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected & Gat Out Of Hell review – damned?good?

Despite the outrageous plot and bizarre weapons this is a disappointingly mundane expansion beneath all the silliness, and one that addresses none of the parent game's failings.

A laudable refusal to take itself seriously and the musical number is great; The new weapons and upgrades are fun, even if they're not functionally very unique

The portrayal of Hell is disappointingly dull, particularly in terms of the open world; No proper story missions, just rehashed mini-games; The hit rate for the jokes is as low as ever

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected

We might have been a tad harsh on Saints Row IV when it was first released. It sat finely balanced between two scores, and we went lower because of the recycled content, but thereafter kind of wished we'd gone the other way and been more positive because of the comedic side of the game, and the...
