I played the original Risen on the PC and I remember that game fondly because, despite being an avid gamer in my forth decade, I have finished very few games to completion, and this is one of them.

A real role playing game.

As good as the first game

Risen 3 is a great game, with hours and hours of entertainment. I have one huge problem with it though - I was 27 hours into my first play through and my save game file became corrupt and I was unable to load it. I could not finish the game and it felt like a complete waste of time.

Everything has gone to Hell on the Southern Seas. There's a ghost pirate smashing up ships, demonic Shadows are terrorizing the islands, the local leadership is scared shitless, and you... well, you're just some poor bastard whose soul was stolen by a Shadow Lord.

Tons of entertaining characters and quests; Lush; interesting world to explore; Combat provides a satisfying challenging

Story is somewhat disjointed; Enemy density is too high; Minor quality issues like recycled NPC models

The story and quests are good but the graphics are like from 2006.The combat could be much better.A shame!!!

Great games are fundamentally built on great ideas, first and foremost. If the ideas are great then, in theory, the rest should follow. Risen 3 shows how much more is needed to become a great game. Risen 3 has some excellent, perhaps even genre-defining ideas.
