Resident Evil 6 is one of the most multiplayer-focused entries in the series, with ample options for on- and offline co-op, so it isn't too surprising that Capcom added a few competitive modes to that equation.

It's possible that there has never been a more divisive main entry in the Resident Evil series than the most recent installment. Resident Evil 6 is an action-packed thrill ride that looks gorgeous and has a slew of modes on display for both single and multiplayer gaming.

An unusually weak story ; even for this series; Connections to its survival horror roots are practically nonexistent

The creepy atmosphere was always a trademark of the Resident Evil video game series. With every game, the developers managed to create unique situations where the characters had to fend off blood-starved zombies and every situation would be exciting, to say the least.

The game is visually quite impressive in some instances; Capcom's still able to dazzle us with its brilliant and unique monster designs; I guess there are some eye-openers fans will be glad about

Badly structured narrative; they basically took everything we know and love about the franchise and replaced it with lousy gameplay mechanics; a confusing story and a shitload of badly implemented (mostly broken) quick-time events that are frustrating as hell

I've got to admit, I'm confused. So this latest Resident Evil game wants to be a movie. But it doesn't want to be like the Resident Evil movies, which are loosely based on the games, but different. It wants to actually be a movie of the game that it is.

Nothing new

It should be stated right away that Resident Evil 6 is not a bad game. In fact, it is arguably quite a good game. However, it is fair to say that it is not a good Resident Evil game, and that fact carries great significance with a large number of people.

Leave your expectations of what makes a Resident Evil game at the door, and you will find plenty; If you cannot cast them aside, you will probably be too angry to have fun

Characters have the feeling of simply being re-skins of one another; gameplay becomes fairly repetitive; not a single moment of genuine tension or fear

As a reviewer I often find myself giving good scores to games I dislike and giving bad scores to games that I personally love. Resident Evil 6 falls into this trap much to my chagrin as I really do enjoy my time playing it (most of it anyways) the game itself is just bad.

Dozens of cheap deaths; aggravating quick time events; cover controls suck; customization system is horrible; inventory is far too restrictive and clumsy; aiming some guns is laughably hard; even more aggravating set pieces; hours of game to suffer through

Capcom delivers the next evolution of the series. Does it deliver the quality we have come to expect?

Not that your co-op partner is usually harmful to the experience. If you play on your own, the AI does a great job of knowing what to do and where to go. The game does have a few good co-op ideas up its sleeve, such as a sequence in which one player swims from the snapping jaws of a finned fiend,...

Ever since the radical overhaul of the series with Resident Evil 4, the Resident Evil series has been moving further and further from its roots, to the point that it's largely no longer a Survival Horror game: a genre that it played a big role in creating and is instead a fully fledged action game,...

This isn't to say Resident Evil 6 is a bad game. Resident Evil 6 isn't your traditional survival-horror, but as time goes on, the series has evolved into what is presented here today.
