Reolink Argus 2 review

The Argus 2 might not be that different to the original but Reolink has corrected the main issue by switching to a clip-in lithium battery. Get the solar panel and things are even better. Otherwise, this is still a great camera at an affordable price that you can use indoor or outdoor with decent 1080p quality and a range of other features including two-way audio, night mode and smart motion detection. You don’t even need to use cloud storage so the Argus 2 is an attractive option in the security camera world.

Reolink Argus 2 Review

When we reviewed the Reolink Argus home security camera, we were impressed with its image quality, easy installation, and weatherproof design, but wished it worked with other smart home devices. The new Argus 2 camera ($129.99) offers the same easy installation and weatherproof enclosure, and adds a few new features including Sony's Starlight CMOS sensor for outstanding night vision, a rechargeable battery pack, and a solar power option. It still doesn't work with other smart devices like the Netgear Arlo Pro 2 or Nest Cam IQ Outdoor do, but it also costs significantly less. Design and Features The Argus 2 looks identical to the original Argus camera. Its pill-shaped white-and-black enclosure measures 4.6 by 2.5 by 2.3 inches (HWD) and has an IP65 weatherproof rating. The camera has a built-in magnet that makes it easy to attach to its metal mounting base and remove when it's time to recharge the battery. Unlike the first Argus, which uses four CR123 batteries, the Argus 2 uses...

The versatile Reolink Argus 2 is a weatherproof indoor/outdoor security camera that doesn't require any wires and is powered by a rechargeable battery pack.

Affordable; Sharp 1080p video; Completely wireless; Weatherproof; Local storage

Doesn't integrate with other smart home devices; SD card not included; Siren isn't loud

A great purchase

I bought a couple of these cameras 3 months ago and very happy so far. Pros Good battery life - lasts a few weeks on the sensitive mode and nearly a month if less sensitive Integration with Google Home - easy to set up and works fine but works only with Smart Display or Chromecast Very stable connection, I had Arlo before which used to disconnect a lot, never had issues with this one No need for a base station Cost Effective Good picture quality Cons Most Relink cameras have quite a narrow angle Not specific to this camera but the Reolink could have some improvements, it's very basic with no built in intelligence like Arlo, Ne...view more

Good camera although only works with app

Great quality picture day and night, audio is good, and paired with a solar panel its always on. However it is a Reolink battery camera which means no external feeds such as RTSP so you can only ever view the picture from the app on your phone (there is no app for a PC) If your not concerned about a continuous feed and don't mind opening the app then this is a great camera for its price.

Highly Recommended

We got one of these to check our mail as we are away quite a bit. It's excellent. Easy to set up and install, and every time anyone goes to our front door we get an alert on our phone and can see if something's been left. And with the little solar panel keeping it fully charged it really is set and forget. Has totally exceeded our expectations, highly recommended.
