It is very intriguing to note that instead of releasing totally new products, gaming peripherals manufacturer Razer has implemented their new 4G dual sensor technology on its gaming mice and rebranded the famous Imperator and Mamba as Imperator 4G 2012 and Mamba 4G 2012.

Razer Imperator 4G Review

First Impressions My reaction is Razer made a very smart move with their new dual 4G sensor system by releasing the tech on two existing and very popular models instead of releasing a completely new mouse.

I tested the Imperator on my 3 year old, but still gorgeous Destructor mouse pad, whose surface color looked identical to the Imperator. The ‘ultraslick' feet at the bottom literally glided on the Destructor's surface and not once did I feel any resistance while moving the Imperator around.

Razer Imperator 2012 Expert Dual Sensor Gaming Mouse Review

Razer have tried to create one of the best mice possible with the Imperator 2012. They have incorporated two sensors in what they call the 4G Dual Sensor System which gives a very impressive 6,400 DPI and should allow it to track on any surface due to the combination of an Optical and Laser Sensor.

Razer Imperator 2012

The Razer Imperator 2012 gaming mouse-set to launch in 2011, despite its name-is a new and improved version of the original Imperator mouse.

Thumb buttons can be moved backwards and forwards; Adjustable lift-off tracking distance; Braided cable; comfortable design; backlighting can be switched off; Driver with plenty of functions: macros; frequency (125 to 1000 Hz); etc; Very light; pleasant to handle; good glide

Our test model couldn't reach the 5 metres per second promised; The stepped scroll wheel isn't as flexible as the adjustable scroll wheel in the Logitech G500; Heavy CPU use at 500 and 1000 Hz; Sensitivity: 6400 dpi is pure marketing

Razer Imperator 4G Mouse Review

The new Razer Imperator 4G is an ergonomic gaming mouse that features a ridiculously precise 4G Dual Sensor System that makes use of both a laser and optical sensor to enhance tracking precision.

So if you're ever on the look out for a high quality gaming mouse, and are a right handed user, the Imperator will certainly get the job done, and then some! It's sleek, it's comfortable and the 3.5G sensor will get you around in any game.

Razer Imperator

Razer are one of those big companies that have been in the gaming peripheral market for quite a long stretch, so it's always with some excitement that we crack open a box of one of their latest products.

Looks great; Very comfortable; Incredibly sensitive DPI; Very accurate; Excellent software

Bit expensive for some; Macros are limited to certain number of keys
