Ratchet & Clank Review

When I was young, I didn't dream of playing hyper realistic first-person shooters. I didn't hope that, one day, I could shoot the face right off someone in a burst of viscera and crimson. No, I though

Incredible visuals; Decent length; Superb ebb and flow

Some guns will be underused; Doesn't do much new; Story is just ok

Ratchet & Clank

PlayStation has no mascot as such, not in the same way that Nintendo has. They tried to position a couple in PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, but none of these ever caught on like Mario, Luigi, Link and the rest of the gang, characters that we all know and love, and that's a damn shame, because...

Ratchet and Clank Review – Don't Call it a Remaster, This is a Reinvigoration to the Franchise

Ratchet and Clank is like playing through a Pixar movie. It's probably the prettiest thing I've seen on my PlayStation 4 so far. The most fun I've had platforming and shooting at things in a while.

Visually stunning; Strong gameplay for rookies and veterans; Wide array of great weaponry; Impeccably acted

Awkard flying sequences

It seems like just the other day that I was introduced to the unlikely duo of Ratchet and Clank on my Playstation 2. A little robot and a weird looking, fox like creature (a Lombax of course) took center stage of a 3D platformer, something that seemed out of line with my usual type of games.

Great Weapons l Boss Battles l Stunning Visuals l Remade to be even more glorious l Excellent throughout

Occasional camera issues l Made me sad there aren't more games like this

Sweet Nostalgia

Ratchet & Clank is a relic of yesteryear, a survivor from an age when anthropomorphic characters were all the rage in video games. Crash Bandicoot. Sonic the Hedgehog. Sly Cooper. Banjo. Conker. Daxter.

Ratchet & Clank

Despite some wonky tie-ins with the film, this is a gorgeous, thoroughly great platformer and a worthy reboot for Ratchet & Clank.

Absolutely gorgeous graphics; Flat-out fun platforming and combat; A nice collection of inventive weaponry

Plot points from the movie feel shoehorned in; Some minor technical gripes

Ratchet & Clank Review – Reliving Legacy (PS4)

There's always a fear with reboots - or rather, re-imaginings, as Insomniac is inclined to call this one. Will it be faithful enough Will it change enough Where is that perfect balance to adequately bring it forward to today's standards while not letting it lose any of what originally made it...

Experience classic Ratchet & Clank again for the first time; High replayability through collectibles; upgrades; and challenge mode; Visually stunning recreation of a 14 year old game; So many ways to dispatch your enemies

Lacking story of relationship between Ratchet and Clank; Crates visually clipping/disappearing

Ratchet & Clank PS4 Review: Better with Time

It's tempting to call Ratchet & Clank a return to form for Insomniac Games' venerated platformer, but in truth, it never really fell out of form. It's just been awhile since our last proper blockbuster entry.

20/40 vision: Ratchet and Clank review

There is a lot to love in Ratchet and Clank, but it also comes with its fair share of headaches. Levels are short and linear, and leave little desire to stay on them any longer than you have to. While weapons are interesting and unique, they often come with the added weight of being hard to aim.

Great visuals; Challenging boss battles; Awesome gadgets and weapons

Short in multiple ways; No real incentive to explore levels; Difficult to aim weapons; hard to maneuver vehicles

Ratchet & Clank review

On top of the stunning art direction and gameplay refinements, fans can look forward to fresh Clank-starring content, new flying sequences, additional boss encounters, and an addictive collectible trading card game. But they're all merely nice extras to what are the main attractions here: beautiful gameplay matched with gorgeous graphics. Relatively early in the game, Ratchet arrives at a destination he'd always dreamed of reaching and exclaims “I’ve died and gone to nerd heaven!” After playing through Ratchet & Clank, you'll know exactly how he feels.

Stunning visual presentation; Plenty of gameplay refinements; Tons of new content;

May feel too familiar if you've played original and remaster;
