Refined; energetic and detailed performance; Well built; Easy to drive
Odd terminal layout; Require decent stands to deliver their best; Still not especially bassy
Bought these speakers after reading rave reviews about them by various British HiFi reviewers. These are wonderful speakers, they deliver a lovely clean & detailed sound. Good build quality. The American Walnut finish looks great. Overall these are great sounding as well good looking speakers.
For many years good sound was unobtainable on a budget. You needed to spend a lot of money to get quality approaching "hi-fi," and it might not even happen then. In 2017, though, companies such as Pioneer, Elac, Emotiva and Q Acoustics have rewritten the rule book.
The affordable Q Acoustics 3020s bring a dynamic and detailed performance to your favorite tunes; Construction is excellent, and there are four color options; Their compact size makes it a good fit if you don't want a bigger speaker box
The Q Acoustics don't reproduce much in the way of bass; and their exciting nature means they could become tiring with the wrong material
This is my second set, so that should say a lot. They're almost too bass heavy in my bedroom, they're wall mounted. My other speaker are Totem Model 1's, so the comparison is relevant.
I'm very, very fussy about speakers so I was uncomfortable buying these without extensive auditioning. I needn't have worried: they are absolutely superb. I own bookshelf speakers which cost several times what I paid for the 3020i and yes, there's a difference, but not as much as I would have...
I upgraded to these because I liked the style & sound of the 3010's I owned, I was just after a tad more bass and these provided it perfectly but also seem more precise. Although slightly larger and more depth they fitted perfectly in my smallish room using the same wall brackets from my 3010's.
