Pure Chess (PS4)

Pure Chess has been loved by and available on multiple platforms since 2012. The PS4 version sports prettier graphics and a smoother asynchronous multiplayer experience compared to the PS3 version.

Wonderful tutorials; stunning visuals; relaxing music

Cannot play remote users in real time; cross buy/cross platform not available yet

Pure Chess

Finally the Playstation 4 gets a family friendly video game on it. It only took five months, and unfortunately Pure Chess is not an exclusive. So families can play it on other systems too. Actually it is better on those other systems too.

Review: Pure Chess Adds Class To The PS4

Pure Chess for PlayStation 4 is pure fun. This video chess game does not have the chess pieces fight or grimace but they move smoothly, make a slight scraping sound like a real board and offer some great graphics and classic challenges.

As boring as the real life Chess.

I've given it 4 stars because the developers have really tried and they've worked wonders with what they've aimed to achieve, but it's still a chess game. Who buys a chess game on disk

"Great for learning how to play, as well as for Pro's."

Really liked the game. I wanted to learn how to play and this game helped me in doing just that. Recommend!

Pure Chess PS4 Review

I love chess and chess theory and you can easily find a lot of pleasure in playing and studying the game by yourself. But my greatest memories of playing chess happen to be with other people at cafes, clubs and in New York City's Washington Square Park, not by myself in front of a computer or...

Good single-player offering; Tournament options; Local multiplayer

Occasionally spotty AI; Unacceptable online functionality

Pure Chess looks gorgeous, and offers an excellent single-player experience. But while playing the AI opponent is fun, the game's woefully underdeveloped online mode makes playing against humans decidedly not. 3 /5
