PES 2017 is rewarding, intriguing and exhilarating. Quite simply, the beautiful game has never been more beautiful.

For now, the answer is PES 2016. 2017 is a great game, but it just doesn't feel so satisfying to play. Getting this year's edition will give you the most recent transfer updates, and for some that'll be all that matters, and in that case you should buy this game with a smile and enjoy yourself, but...

PES 2017 is a remarkably good soccer sim on the pitch-so good that it makes up for the bulk of its shortcomings elsewhere. There's no denying that it's a niche sim with a high barrier to entry; but if realistic gameplay is your number one priority, then PES 2017 comes highly recommended. 4 /5
