Plantronics RIG 700HD review: It improves on its predecessor, but perhaps not enough

Incredibly lightweight; Decent mid-range response and stereo width; Looks better than other Plantronics headsets;

Ditched Dolby Atmos for Windows Sonic surround; 12 hour battery life is pretty disappointing; Three-hole sizing adjustment is still a solution to a nonexistent problem;

Great headset

I love them, they are very comfortable even after 6 hours of gaming and with a piercing in my ear! Sound quality is a lot better but i also haven't owned any new headphones in the last few years coming from Turtle beach Tango from 2010ish. The bass rumbles hard, the voices are clear, 7.1 works very well aswell. Microphone is fine but yes i can't find a way to alter my mic volume(does that even matter?). Great product and i would recommend.

Works all right

This headset worked well with my computer but nothing else like Xbox One etc. I know it is designed for PC gaming but it should also be compatible with other platforms. Other than that the audio quality is fantastic, the mic is decent but it is a headset mic after all and the bass kicks HARD. Overall a good headset.

Buy Something Else

Good headset but the microphone will drive you nuts because every time you switch them on you headest you hear your voice. To stop this you have to hold down the mute button for a couple of seconds until you hear 2 beeps THEN you have to do it again until you hear 1 beep. THEN you're set to go. Remember this has to be done EVERY time you turn on your headset. WHO thought to do this??? Problem with this is that a lot of the time it only recognises your press and hold as a press and only mutes the microphone, when this happens 2 or 3 times you just want to throw them away. Another issue is the dial to switch between game and voice. You can only use this if you connect with the fiber optic cable. What happens though if you dont use the fiber optic cable and only connect via USB, sometimes you will accidently move the dial and get no sound which will drive you nuts. I have had times when this has happened and I have thought it was a fault with the headset so Ive tried to troubleshoot i

Plantronics RIG 700HD review: It improves on its predecessor, but perhaps not enough

“Plantronics” is no more—at least in theory. Having acquired Polycom in 2018, Plantronics took the opportunity a few months back to ditch its old name and rebrand as “Poly.” Why’d they change it? I can’t say. I guess someone liked it better that way.

The Plantronics RIG 700 is a better headset than its predecessor, a solid low-cost entry for wireless, but disappointing battery life undermines the improvements to build quality and audio.
