Pentax K-50 Review - The Pentax K-50 is virtually identical to the K-500, albeit boasting a few extra features. Is it worth the extra cash?
Weather sealing; Excellent features; Image quality
AF can be noisy with kit lens; Would be nice to see a vari-angle screen at this price
The Pentax K50 is a solid, satisfying camera, its sensor is capable of excellent results but it is still lacking a bit in terms of focus speed.
image quality; handling; controls
(somewhat) focus; video
The Pentax K-50 is a new mid-range DSLR camera. Key features include a dustproof, weather-resistant and cold-resistant construction, an ISO range of 100-51200, Full HD 1080p video at 30, 25 and 24fps, 6fps continuous shooting, 11-point SAFOX IX+ AF system, High Dynamic Range mode, and a range of...
This is my second DSLR, upgraded from a Nikon D50. Chose it over the Nikon and Canons based on tech reviews and am having no regrets. Just recently received the camera from costco and am amazed with the photo quality and the apparent quality of the unit itself. Huge upgrade over what I was using.
amazing photos weather proof simple to learn the basics of
none that i have seen yet
I have had the k-50 -years, and was pleased with it. the image quality is great, dynamic range good, video adequate, lenses good (I have the 15-55 wr and the 55-300) overall I was satisfied. But in November of 2017 my wife was trying to take a picture of me when the camera images went dark.
John Riley reviews the new weather sealed Pentax K-50 Digital SLR to see how it performs.
Excellent image quality; Dustproof and weather resistant; Fast operation including upgraded AF; Glass pentaprism viewfinder; In body shake reduction; Backwards compatibility with thousands of lenses; Wide ISO range; Excellent ergonomics; Excellent build quality; AA Battery option; 120 colour options
No QuickShift on DAL Lenses; Loud focus on DAL lens
The Pentax K-30 was our favourite SLR of 2012. Its large optical viewfinder, dual command dials, weather-sealed body and 6fps burst mode are features that Canon and Nikon charge considerably more than £600 for. Our only serious reservation was that its angular, sporty design wasn't easy on the eye.
First "proper" digital camera I have had to replace my 35mm SLR. Can still use all my old filters, lenses etc and the live view means I can see if they are correctly exposed etc. So very pleased
I spent around 2 weeks trawling every review that I could find on the internet, comparing the Pentax K50 along with a Canon 700D and the Nikon d5300. It was such a struggle to make the final choice, all get excellent reviews, but the K50 won hands down.
Durable; Great Features; Great Picture Quality; Simple Controls
