Panasonic 7-14mm f/4 ASPH LUMIX G VARIO review by halfmac
The Best 4/3rds Lens. This is the lens that made m4/3rds a necessity. On a video or CSC camera it does not breath when focusing. Constant aperture is a bonus. Very well made and small for what it does. And did I say sharp. I should.- Sharp
- Small
- Constant Aperture
- Internal Focus and Zoom
- Price
The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm F4 is a remarkable lens - it may not be the widest angle zoom currently made (an honor held jointly by Sigma's 12-24mm for full frame and 8-16mm for APS-C), but its combination of ultra-wide view and compact size is unique.
- Extraordinarily small for such a wide lens
- Very good image quality
- Extremely fast
- practically silent autofocus with minimal 'breathing
- Impressively resistant to flare
- Does not accept filters
- Fairly strong lateral chromatic aberration at the widest settings when used on Olympus bodies
- High price (much more expensive than Olympus 9-18mm F4-5.6
Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm F4 ASPH review
Panasonic has produced an ultra-wide zoom for Micro Four Thirds that is a technological tour de force. Compact and with excellent image quality, it's a superb lens if you can afford the high price.- Landscape or travel photographers looking for a highly portable ultrawide zooms
- Budget-conscious buyers or habitual filter users
Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 7-14mm f/4.0 ASPH Lens - Brand New review
This specialised lens is more than capable of producing very high quality images with very good sharpness across the frame. Although flare may be an issue caused by the large bulbous front element, so long as a little care is taken to avoid the situations where this may occur, it is only a small...
Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm f/4.0 Aspherical
On Panasonic's website this lens is listed at £1,375. Fortunately, it can be obtained for close to £900, which is still a lot - but a lot less than £1,375.- Ultra-wide angle of view
- Very expensive
A great lens for m4/3 format
Nicely built lens that is sharp as pins. Great range from ultra-wide 7mm (14mm equivalent) to wide 14mm (28mm equivalent). Not an inexpensive lens but build and image quality superb.- good focal length range
- no filter thread
Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 7-14mm F4.0 ASPH
At the 7mm end of the zoom range, the lens has a diagonal angle of view of 114°, equivalent to that of a 14mm lens in a 35mm system.

A must have for an micro 4/3's DSLR
I bought one of these n 2009 for my G1 and use it constantly. An ultrawide lens like this on a DSLR is a rarity, and not to be missed. Truly a fantastic product.- Inexpensive
- Exceeded expectations
Exactly what you would expect
I am an amateur with a Panasonic GF1 camera with 2 lenses (14-45 and 45-200). I wanted to have a super wide lens to be able to catch some more artistic images. I believe it will be a replacement for the 14-45 lens for me as in X2 it supplies flat enough (no distortions) photos with very nice...
