Panasonic G7

With the Panasonic G7, the company offers up a whole lot of camera at a really great price. Ostensibly a camera aimed at the family documentarian, the Lumix G7 is also a whole lot more than just a family camera, with great features like super-swift autofocus, a really great viewfinder and...

Compact and lightweight for a fully-featured interchangeable-lens camera; Really fast autofocus; Good all-around performance too; Generous buffer depth; Versatile tilt/swivel LCD and high-res viewfinder; Touch-screen controls; Very affordable pricetag

Out of the box, colors are muted by consumer standards; Warm white balance under incandescent light; Handgrip is a little shallow for those with larger hands; Wi-Fi is overly complex and has limited range

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7

The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 camera replaces the two-year old G6 as the sixth generation model in its line and slots in just below the GH4 (which we reviewed in May 2014, with which it shares some important features although in a smaller and lighter body.

Game changer: Panasonic's 4K-friendly G7 reviewed

Panasonic's latest take on the mirrorless camera not only show it has the guts to be a great camera, but a very creative and forward-thinking one, too.

Comfortable to hold; Loads of function buttons; 4K burst and pre-burst modes are literal game changers and perfect for sports or high-speed photography; Decent shots are possible from this camera; though we'd change that kit lens first; Support for wireless included

Eye-sensor can sometimes be a little fiddly; switching off the rear LCD when your eye isn't behind the viewfinder; No charging from the camera itself; and an external charger is still needed

Plastic Like Feel; Main Dial Issues; Average Dynamic Range; Slow Wake-Up-To-Shoot Time

Very happy with the Camera so far.

I've been in desperate need for a decent camera to practice filmmaking on, and I was pretty nervous about which one to pick initially, but I can honestly say I'm very glad I chose this camera. For it's price, this camera is very sturdy, and takes incredible pictures/ video.

The camera worked great for the first little while. However, after a few months the camera has started to display some serious issues: sometimes when recording, the screen will be overlaid with flashing pink static lines (an example has been attached); after pressing the button to stop a recording,...

I ordered the G7 as a B-camera for my GH4, but returned it as it has too many limitations (limited recording length, low bit rates, short battery life) for my workflow. Its a good camera for those wishing to get into 4K video, but the limitations would restrict its use for unattended use as a...

The G7 was on sale from Panasonic including the 14-42 and 45-150 kit lenses. The price looked right and I figured hey give some M4/3rds love to Panasonic since have been a big convert to Olympus since going M4/3rds in 2016.
