Panasonic RB-M700B Review

We don't see many good noise-cancelling headphones under $200, so while we approached the $179.99 Panasonic RB-M700B with an open mind, as always, we weren't exactly expecting to have our minds blown. For the price, even merely decent ANC would be a coup. Unfortunately, the RB-M700B headphones offer no such thing, with noise cancellation that actually sounds louder in a quiet room. They also have a Bass Reactor feature that is entirely unnecessary, and literally vibrates your head when enabled. Whether this is a pleasant experience will probably come down to personal preference and music choice. But for $180—or even less—you can do much better.Design Available in beige or black models, the circumaural (over-ear) RB-M700B headphones offer a comfortable fit over long listening periods, thanks to plush memory foam earpads and a well-cushioned headband. Both the pads and the band are lined with a leatherette material, and the rest of the headphone frame is a mixture of matte plastic ...

The Panasonic RB-M700B headphones offer active noise cancellation and adjustable bass response for a price that would be a steal if either of these features were good.

Rich, crisp audio performance (when bass effect is off); Comfortable fit

Mediocre noise cancellation; Noise cancellation drastically alters sound signature; Bass Reactor effect is ridiculous
