[REVIEW-OLYMPUS STYLUS SH-50compact camera]
This 16mp compact camera has a 25–600mm (film equivalent) lens with dual image stabilisation for stills and multi axis stabilisation for movies. The attractive body with metal and (faux) leather touches feels solid and comfortable.

Olympus SH-50MR
In early 2013 Olympus announced the SH-50 iHS, "a new premium, compact long zoom camera" with a host of impressive features trickled down from their flagship Micro Four Thirds cameras (like the OM-D E-M5).

SuperZoom; but laggy software and noisy images
I had high hopes waiting for the SH-50 to arrive; I am a big fan of the Canon PowerShot SX280 which is a similar superzoom format camera. The reasons for my high hopes are that the lens is fractionally quicker and the zoom is 20% longer.

I purchased this camera as a point and shoot alternative to my Canon SLR. I wanted a small camera with big zoom that could take sharp images and could record decent video. What sold me on it is the new Olympus 5-axis image stabilization.

Olympus Stylus SH-50 Review
Olympus had anonunced the SH-50, its first point-and-shoot with 5-axis image stabilisation for video, earlier this year. Considering the SH-50 is a travel zoom compact camera, we were really curious to know how the image stabilisation would work at the telephoto end.

Review: Olympus Stylus SH-50 iHS
Big zoom in point and shoot cameras is quite a rage these days. If you have a sub 20K budget, there are quite a few snappers you can consider. The Olympus Stylus XZ-10 had been a disappointment as far as User experience is concerned.
Pros:
- Ultra Slow-mo video capture
- Decent low-light shots
- 24X optical zoom with IS
Cons:
- Wi-Fi support only via Eye-Fi cards
- Macro images lack detail
- Over-saturtation of images

The Olympus SH-50 is a pocket-sized long-zoomer with one or two cool features. That's all.
It's great to see some of the features from the company's flagship cameras trickle down through Olympus' lineup, but 5-axis video stabilization will not make or break the SH-50. Frankly this just isn't a very interesting camera.

- Full manual controls
- 11 fps continuous shooting
- Solid
- well-built metal body
- Screen has an excellent resolution
- Good detail in panoramas
Cons:
- No RAW shooting

Olympus Stylus SH-50 review
We always like products that do something different, but we rate them for quality rather than novelty value. That's why it's a particular treat to find a camera that stands out from the crowd in ways that are genuinely useful, which the Olympus Stylus SH-50 does.

Olympus SH-50
The Olympus Stylus SH-50 is a high performance digital compact camera that's packed full of tech. If the 24x optical zoom, FullHD video recording and touch screen shooting aren't enough, the SH-50 is the first of its kind to feature the 5-axis image stabilisation system, normally only seen in DSLRs.
