Olympus E-M1 Mark II

This is a flagship camera for Olympus and is often sold body only. I was sent the unit with a 12-40mm lens. It arrived at a time when I had several events at iconic place, the OXO tower, the Shard and perhaps the most poignant the 100 years from the end of the First World War at the Imperial War...

Silent Shutter Mode completely eliminates shutter noise and all electronic sounds, perfect for wildlife, concert halls, or other quiet environments. With the Live Composite and Live Bulb Modes, you'll shoot beautiful nighttime compositions as you watch the image build up on the monitor, giving you...

One of the most fun to use cameras around

Live composite is so good, cuts down serious editing time for star night shots, really opens up my creativity for night shots. The end result is an excellent and very clean image vs. full frame cameras.

Outstanding

Outstanding camera and lens combination, I moved from Nikon just to save weight but now I wished I had done it sooner. Changing has not improved the composition of the photos! but sure has brought back the enjoyment of photography, the camera has some outstanding features and image quality is superb...

Amazing Camera, Impressively Deep Menu

An amazing camera that affords the user unprecedented control over a bewildering array of features. It will take you some time to set up the camera to get the most out of it; fortunately, resources exist to help you through this process.

Weather resistant; Quick focusing (as long as there is adequate light); Dual memory card slots; 60 FPS with electronic shutter; 50 Megapixel hi-res shot mode (requires a tripod, and a subject that doesn't move) ; 4K video

Requires a high-speed memory card for 4K video and 60 FPS shooting (not really a con, more like a requirement); You'll want a Class 10 SDHC UHS-II SD Memory Card to take full advantage of this camera's features

After a year and a quarter with the camera, I can say that I am very pleased with the purchase! It has many wonderful features that make it very easy to work with. For example, the built-in image stabilization and various creative features.

Olympus OM-D E-M1 II

Outwardly, very little has changed from the previous model, the E-M1, but inside the camera has been completely redesigned to offer better performance. The camera is a nice size and shape, something that you'll be happy to carry around with you all day.

Long battery life; Weatherproofing; Cinema 4K; High resolution viewfinder; Excellent tracking focus

Very expensive; Strange menu setup; Only one UHS-II memory card slot

Powerful camera

I have had the camera for a few weeks and haven't been able to fully explore all the features, however I have been impressed by the performance so far. Well balanced and easy to operate with even bigger hands, incredible in body stabilisation, really pleased with my purchase.

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II review: The most formidable Olympus camera, ever

The E-M1 Mark II is not only better than the original model in every way, it's better than most mirrorless in every way too. Principal to its success is the built-in image stabilisation - which is the best sensor-based system we've ever used - and its super-quick reactions across the board, from...

Very fast; Quick autofocus; Articulated touchscreen; Image stabilisation is unreal; Mechanical and electronic shutter shooting modes; Can be customised to the nth degree; Ever expanding lens choice; Sharp images at low to mid ISO settings

Image quality in low contrast light; Limited dynamic range in high contrast light; Silent shutter is so discreet that it's easy to forget what shooting mode you're in; It's an expensive purchase
