Olympus E-30. Still not up there with the big boys?
The E-30 is Olympus's own stepping-stone between the so-called "prosumer" models (what an awful word) and the E-3 professional SLR, being loosely comparable with the likes of the Canon EOS 50D, the Nikon D90 and the Sony Alpha A-350.
Pros:
- Fold out LCD screen
- Image Stabilization
- Zuiko lens quality
- Picture quality
- Flash options
Cons:
- Noise in low light
- Too many buttons
- Badly laid out
- Too many gimmicks

Olympus E-30
Filling the gap between the Olympus E-520 and pro-level E-3, the Olympus E-30 is a mid-range DSLR, aimed at advanced amateur and semipro photographers. This puts it squarely in the firing line of the revered Nikon D300, feature-packed Sony Alpha 700 and the well-specced Canon EOS 50D.

Olympus E-30 review
The new Olympus E-30 digital single-lens reflex camera (SLR) from Olympus combines a solid feature set with a truly creative personality.

The 12MP Olympus E-30 is a prosumer digital SLR ( DSLR ) that fills the gap in Olympus' DSLR line between the flagship "pro" E-3 and the entry level E-620. As a prosumer level camera, the Olympus E-30 has more in common with the E-3 than the E-620 but shares some features with both models.

terrific experiance
I wish someone had told me that the zuiko lens cap (12-60mm lens) would not fit over the haze filter i bought. I had to order a rubber push on cap to protect my lens. oh, i wish olympus dlsr cameras were more popular in the US -- the only authorized shop that does repairs and whatnot is in phoenix -...
Pros:
- Fast Shutter Speed
- Great Image Quality
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Exposed LCD

This is an excellent camera packed with features and easy to use!
This is a great camera. Fast light weight and on the money. I like the controls and features. For the money this is the best camera I have ever owned. While it is a bit bigger than the E 500 I had before it is well worth the extra weight and space.
