No Man's Sky

No Man's Sky is impressive, unusual and staggeringly vast. Despite some moments of tedium, its gravitational pull will keep many players perpetually engaged.

A near-endless universe full of varied flora and fauna; Having a whole universe to name is great fun; Wonderfully written alien encounters

Planets may change but the core experience never does; Tedious combat and fiddly inventory management; Illusion of depth is fleeting

Flawed, but nothing short of spectacular

I was late to the NMS party. I had heard of this game back around launch time, I heard people said it was bad, but other than knowing it was a space game, I knew nothing about it or who Sean Murray even was. Somehow I missed the hype entirely...and I'm glad I did.

No Man's Sky Review: A Beautiful Universe with No End

No Man's Sky is a game about solitude and survival. The trouble is, many people expected a multi-player party in space, but the procedurally generated space adventure from Hello Games doesn't deliver that part of the bargain.

No Man's Sky review

With much of the No Man's Sky's structure having apparently been added in the final month of development, that's not so surprising. (The patch notes are eye-opening; mere weeks ago, this was half the game it is now.) There is tremendous room for it to grow and improve.

No Man's Sky Review – A (Mostly) Fantastic Voyage

Ever since Sean Murray, of indie developer Hello Games, first showed off No Man's Sky back in 2014, the game has captured the collective imagination of gamers in a way that is rare in the industry.

Awesome space travel with no load screens; Almost infinite; open universe to explore; Cool visual aesthetic

Tedious resource management; Frustrating inventory system; Limited depth to planetary environments

Crash-tastrophy

I was in two minds about purchasing this game. On the one hand I could explore an entire universe in which I could get lost and be the first to discover a plant, animal, planet even an entire star system!

Bound PS4 Review

In the grand tradition of PlayStation classics like Journey and The Unfinished Swan, Bound tells its story through metaphor, tugging at the player's emotion with a scope and beauty that's difficult to describe. In a couple ways, it's actually more effective at conveying meaning than similar games.

Exploration, expectations, and you: No Man's Sky review

No Man's Sky is not what people thought it would be. In the recent decade, few games have been as hyped up as Hello Games' newest adventure. Since its debut trailer back in December 2013, some have have claimed it to be the game of the generation, or in some ridiculous instances the last game we...

World is incredible; Visual style is wonderful; Learning languages is a brilliant idea; Surprisingly accessible

Lack of direction; Crafting system isn't great

PS4 Review: No Man's Sky

No Man's Sky sets out to be an endless exploration game, set across hundreds of trillions of planets to explore, each randomly generated with it's own climate, wildlife and resources scattered. It's one of the most ambitious games I've come across in years, purely on the scale of it.
