Divisive is a term all too easily bandied about. Just like 'it's not for everyone'. Of course it's not for everyone, nothing is. But I believe where both terms get their merit is when the split between love / hate is close to 50/50. That's when a game is truly divisive.

Exploring the infinitesimal universe is fun and fascinating, but it can be immensely annoying too. No Man's Sky does have the interplanetary space-faring magic it advertises, but how much it satisfies depends on whether you enjoy the arduous, cyclical churn of accumulate-create-migrate in exchange...

Despite the randomization of planets and animal life, every No Man's Sky playthrough begins the same: You wake up on a planet wholly unlike Earth, with a spaceship that won't fly, inside a suit that only barely keeps you alive.

Let me preface this by saying that I went into this gargantuan title as blind as possible. I refused to watch trailers or read interviews from the developers in order to make my experience as unique, eye-opening and engrossing as the game would provide.

A good game is often said to be more than the sum of its parts – a special, unquantifiable feeling that comes from seeing every mechanic working seamlessly together to create variety and surprises. No Man's Sky, by contrast, is a huge collection of parts that can't find that harmony.

Bound takes the player into a fantastic dreamscape symbolizing a woman revisiting her childhood memories. Now, as you may notice, that is quite a short summary, but why is it so short?

The Universe is a large place, a place full of wonders, of stories, of untold valour. It is an unexplored marvel and one that needs its own adventure. No Man's Sky has promised so much in the lead up to its release. A small team creating something massive.
