Games reviews roundup: Hey! Pikmin; Nintendo 2DS XL; Nioh: Defiant Honour

3DS, Nintendo , cert: 3 ★★★ Unusually, given its background, the Pikmin series is one of Nintendo's rare underachievers. It was created by Mario and Zelda mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto , and shares the same charm and brilliance, just not the same success.

Nintendo New 2DS XL review

Overall then, Nintendo's New 2DS XL offers a significant upgrade over the entry level 2DS in terms of build quality, processing power and form-factor - but with the bargain basement model available for just £75 these days, an extra £55 on top is a significantly higher level of investment.

Nintendo 2DS XL: The Gizmodo Review

The Nintendo Switch exists, and is a fantastic gaming system that you can, in a pinch, play in a bar, a car, or on the train. Phones exist too, and the games on them are better than ever. So why the hell should you own anything else? Because games.

Contest: Win A Nintendo 2DS XL Pokéball Edition Console

The C Stick brings enhanced controls* (like intuitive camera control) to compatible games, while ZL and ZR buttons give you plenty of options. Tap an amiibo figure to the near-field communication (NFC) reader on the lower screen to enjoy amiibo features in compatible games.

New Nintendo 2DS XL Review

Nintendo love to tinker with their handheld console hardware, releasing several iterations of each during a console's lifespan. However, they've taken that predilection to new heights during the 3DS era, not just revising the console, but exploring different ways to get it to reach more people.

The best 3DS clamshell design yet; "New" 3DS model power and features; Huge library of great games; Comes with a charger

Loses 3D effect; Wobbly hinge; Still merely OK battery life; Poor for gaming in sunny conditions

The Nintendo New 2DS XL sacrifices the mostly superfluous 3D for a handsome re-design that stands head and shoulders above the rest of the 3DS/2DS family. And like its counterpart, it includes an improved processor and the ability to play SNES games.

New Nintendo 2DS XL Review

It feels fitting to be writing this while I'm listening to Radiohead, really. "You do it to yourself, just you, you and noone else" isn't the song ringing in my ears, but it's the most apt. I'm not mo
