Most of the changes, big and small, to the DS Lite are welcome improvements. The DS already has a stronger library of games, plus GBA compatibility, but now it can finally compete on the style front with Sony's PSP.

Bright screens; Lighter and slimmer than original DS

THIS is the DS you were expecting Nintendo to release on November 11th, 2004, not that ugly bulky grey thing. The dual screens and cool touch interface was enough to make most of us forgive Nintendo for the looks of the original DS.

We won't look a gift horse in the mouth, though. Despite a few interface quirks and the fact the machine's external casing is prone to taking a beating, not to mention attracting dirt and gunk, the DS Lite does what it promises.

For this review, I'm going to cut to the chase a bit earlier. The Nintendo DS Lite is one beautiful piece of work. Since hearing about the DS, I've always wanted one. The DS offers games of a different calibre.

With a slick new design, brighter screens, and a growing library of fun and innovative games, the Nintendo DS Lite is an impressive improvement over the original DS.

The Nintendo DS Lite is slimmer and much sleeker that the original DS; The device employs innovative dual-screen and microphone-enabled gameplay as well as Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities, allowing for a growing list of original and fun games that you can't play on any other system.

Playing online games via Wi-Fi can be a hassle; The darker models are just as susceptible to scratches and smudges as the Sony PSP and the iPod, and its multimedia potential remains exclusive to Japan

T echnologically savvy and notoriously harder to please, kids ages 9 and up require extra attention when selecting software and gifts that will truly engage their attention and hold their interest. Fortunately, we've found a few pleasers.

The Nintendo DS Lite gaming system is a nice gaming system. When I first considered buying a gaming system for my older children, I wanted something that would have a good selection of educational games. As a parent I want them to play and learn at the same time.
