Have not had an external flash before and have no further lightning habit. Using it on a Nikon D200. Have had it for two weeks and is so far very satisfied. In iTTL-mode, it is very easy to use. Pictures are great, thought that the running time would be longer.

Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight Review
Full compatibility with most Nikon DSLRs and a couple of Coolpix cameras, but if you're shooting a film Nikon it needs to be an F6 to take full advantage of the flash's features.
Pros:
- Improved control interface
- Compatibility
- Good continuous ability
Cons:
- Lower guide number
- Higher MSRP
- Little compatibility with film SLRs

A wonderful accessory for Nikon DSLRs!
I really like this flash unit. The reason is simple: it is small and unobtrusive. If you need a small flash that is a lot more powerful than the on-camera flash on your compatible Nikon camera, this is a great flash.

Great little flash!
Powered by four AA batteries, this flash is amazing! It is a step up from the SB600 for sure, but not as good as the king of all flashes, the SB900. With the SB700, you have the ability to control other flashes, which is really important if you are getting into photography.

Great speedlight for Nikon D80!
Love how one gets natural lighting instead of the harsh, cold lighting from th pop up flash. I have yet to learn all the features as I just received it. Love it so far, but it is a bit heavy.
Pros:
- Durable
- Easy To Use
- Fast Recycling
- Powerful Output
Cons:
- Bulky
- Heavy

I would recommend this to anyone looking to delve into flash photography.
I use it in conjunction with my D7000. It's like they were made for each other. There was some confusion as to whether I should go for a 3rd party flash or Nikon's own, and I decided to purchase Nikon's own - no regrets.

Great flash
I just got this as a supplement to my SB -400 . I am a photo enthusiast who is not happy with my night shots with my flash. So far this gives better exposure than with SB 400. So far I am happy I don't shoot lots of night shots however the price is better than getting if from overseas even though...

3rd dead flash after only medium-load daily use.
Least reliable flash I've ever used. I've been using this flash professionally, mainly for run-and-gun quick real estate photography. I shoot *max* 150 finished images in a day (average 50-100) for this work, spread out over a few properties per day and I rarely shoot much more frames than I use,...

Very competent flash.
Had been in the market for a new flash for a while. Conducted research on the top of the line flashes and settled on the Sb 700. Not because of the lower price but more of the smaller size and more than adequate power. There were too many features on the 5000 that I would never use.

Now just looking at the above comparison of specs, what we on the surface is that the Nikon SB-900, unexpectedly, leads in many areas of performance and functionality. However, there are some important distinctions between these three flashes in the Nikon speedlight lineup.
