Very nice lens for the price.
Have purchased and used the 40, 60, and 105 micros. They're all fine lenses. This 85 lens is especially nice for close-up photography because of the working distance at 1:1 and is quite suitable for portrait work. Nikon has always made fine macro lenses.

Good things come in small packages
A cracker of a macro lens. Small, lightweight, great image quality and the VR is the icing on the cake. I just wish there was some Summer weather so I could put it to more use. Goodbye Sigma 150.

Good Prime lens for the money
Mid range telephoto Prime with VR. I've found focus to be sharp and accurate. I have not had the opportunity to use the Micro capability. We have the good fortune to have wildlife that share the area where we live and we can get quite close without either

Beautiful macro, beautiful portraits
I loved taking pictures of flowers with my point-and-shoot, so I was missing the ability to picture the small things in life after upgrading to dSLR. This is my first true Macro lens and I'm not disappointed.

Nikkor 85mm Micro
Great lens with the sharpness I expect from Nikon. Ideal for my purpose shooting food. 85mm gives distance so I don't get tomato sauce on the lens hood.

Pros:
- -Able to take pictures of wildlife such as rabbits without frightening them away, meaning, able to stand pretty far back and get a good shot
- -Takes pretty sharp images for the most part
- Still learning how to use this lens so hopefully that will improve
- -Photos are nice and contrasty
Cons:
- -Camera shake is still present with handheld shots even with VR function

The best macro lense. Lightweight, strong construction. Stunning photos, beyond emagination, takes you from a beginner to a better photographer. Yes price matters.

Nikon 85mm f/3.5G ED VR DX AF-S Micro Nikkor review by Tord
I love using this on my Nikon 1 cameras, but it works on my FX cameras as well (you need to do some cropping afterwards, if you use FX mode). Small, and with very effective VR, The only con is that it isn't faster than it is â€" I'd a love a f/2.8 version!
