Extremely fun wide angle for DX
I was torn between the Nikon 12-24 and this lens for my DX ultra wide DX needs. I chose this lens due greater angle or frame coverage and I am glad I did. That extra 10 degrees of coverage is actually a lot! I also was convinced that this lens is sharper than its 12-24 brother.
Pros:
- Widest angle you can get (at this time) for DX
- sharp
- high contrast image rendering
Cons:
- Other than minor complaint about distortion at 10 to 15mm, I do not have any
- But such is the case with all ultra wide lenses, it's just that this one has bit more distortion than most lenses

I would recommend this lens to a friend
I bought this lens for my Nikon D300s and used it on a trip to Grand Canyon (north and south rim). The pictures are sharp.

Great lens
The autofocus on my lens failed after only 4 months. To make it even worse it was during a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Yap Island. Nikon IS repairing it under warranty.
Pros:
- Easy To Use
- Improves Picture Quality

Nikon's venerable 12-24mm ultrawide zoom has the benefit of a reasonably fast f/4 aperture that remains constant throughout the zoom range.

Great lens but expensive
Bought this lens for landscape, architecture and natural history habitat pictues. I use this lens on my Nikon D90 and love its ease of use. For people who are fed up not getting everything they want in the photo, this is the lens to use. Just be careful or you'll find your toes in the picture!
Pros:
- Easily Interchangeable
- Lightweight
- Quick Focus
- Sharp Focus
Cons:
- Weak Casing

This 10-24mm lens, offers an expansive focal range, giving a 15-36mm equivalent (after Nikon's 1.5x crop factor). You'll get a variable aperture range of f/3.5-4.5 and the Nikon 10-24mm also offers Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) which supplies quick, responsive and silent focus with the motor also...

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 10-24mm f3.5-4.5G ED
Nikon's 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 is a new super-wide-angle zoom for DX-format Nikon bodies (ie, not full-frame). Its 2.4x zoom range offers an equivalent focal length of 10-36mm, which is pretty much state of the art right now. The extra zoom range is important.
